Financial expert Rachel Cruze shared a YouTube video listing 15 ways to make $10,000 quickly. Cruze posted this video to her over 430,000 subscribers to help them reach what she calls Baby Step Three.
Cruze teaches something called The Baby Steps, which are seven steps people can take to transform their financial lives. After saving a $1,000 emergency fund and paying off all debt except for mortgages, the third step is to increase your emergency fund to 3-6 months of living expenses.
Cruze explains that many people save around $10,000 in their long-term emergency fund. If you want to save that amount quickly, here are fifteen ways to do so.
Rent Out a Room in Your HouseĀ
Cruze explains there are several different websites you can use to rent out a room in your house. Airbnb is a popular one.
She says if you rent out a room for $65 per night, youāll make over $10,000 after booking it for 155 nights. She reminds her viewers that Airbnb does charge fees, and youāll have to pay taxes on income. However, itās a great way to earn money using the space you already have.
Rent Out Other Spaces
Many people donāt realize that you can rent out more than just a room. People are looking to rent out garage spaces, parking spaces, and even basement storage.
She recommends websites such as Neighbor, where you can rent out your empty garage for up to $600 per month. Another website, Nookzy allows you to rent out your backyard for people to have parties or camp. Cruze explains you can make close to $1,000 per month doing that.
Rent Out Your Car
Who needs car rental companies? The company Turo allows you to rent out your car to people who need it. Cruze explains you can use the calculator on their website to see how much you could make renting out your car.
Turo fees are based on your location and the type of car you have. Turoās website says you can make an average of $1,033 per month doing this, meaning you can save $10,000 in less than a year.
Drive Uber
Driving for Uber is another way to earn extra money. ZipRecruiter reports the average hourly pay for an Uber Driver in 2024 is $17.83 per hour. Depending on how much you drive for Uber, you could save $10,000 in less than a year.
Join Instacart
Instacart is a popular platform where you shop for other peopleās groceries. Pay depends on how many orders you complete as well as the tips you earn. Payscale reports that in 2024, Instacart drivers make approximately $20.34 per hour.Ā
Another meal delivery service Cruze mentions is DoorDash.
Flip Furniture
Another way to earn money is to flip furniture. Cruze recommends going to thrift stores and finding furniture you can flip for a profit. She also says donāt forget to consider the cost of materials.
Overall, she says if you can sell five pieces of furniture and make a $200 profit on each every month, you could make $1,000 per month.
Tutoring
If you enjoy teaching, you can tutor online. You can get up to $60 per hour for tutoring, especially if you can tutor subjects like higher math or SAT and ACT prep.
Even if you only make $30 per hour, Cruze says, you can tutor two hours per day Monday-Friday, and earn $10,000 in less than nine months.
