Radiologic and MRI Technologist

  • Median annual salary: $76,020

Radiologic and MRI technologists operate machinery in the medical field. They can also perform X-rays and CT scans. Interested applicants need an associate degree and may need a certification depending on the position. 

Aerospace Engineering and Operations Technologist/Technician

  • Median annual salary: $77,830

If space has been an interest, this is a job where workers test both aircraft and spacecraft. Qualifications typically include an associate degree in engineering technology or a related subject.

Respiratory Therapist

  • Median annual salary: $77,960

A respiratory therapist helps patients breathe better. To be qualified, a person will need an associate degree and, in most states, a license to practice.

Radiation therapists work closely with medical teams to administer radiation treatment. An associate degree in radiation therapy or a healthcare-related field is typically required. Most states in the U.S. require therapists to be licensed or certified.

Nuclear Technician 

  • Median annual salary: $101,740

Nuclear technicians work with physicists and engineers to conduct research and help make nuclear energy. To qualify, applicants need an associate degree in nuclear science, nuclear technology, or a related field. Once hired, there is typically extensive training to get up to speed. 

Air Traffic Controller

  • Median annual salary: $137,380

If you’ve been on a flight, you’ve likely seen air traffic controllers on the tarmac. They also update pilots on weather and other conditions so they’re prepared to fly. To be an air traffic controller applicants have to be under 31, have an associate degree in this field or the equivalent of three years of work experience. The hiring process also includes passing the Air Traffic Skills Assessment, medical and security screenings, and completing intensive training by the FAA.
