It seems like school just ended, but stores are already starting to woo parents with back-to-school deals, and Walmart is ahead of the game. Their website already has a section dedicated to supplies with some mega deals, which could swing in their favor and help attract early sales since back-to-school items have been on the rise.
According to the National Retail Federation, families with children in elementary through high school spent an average of $875 on essentials like electronics, supplies, clothing and shoes in 2024, and it’s putting a serious strain on household budgets. In a 2024 Credit Karma survey, 31% of parents said they were unable to afford supplies for their kids, while 34% of parents said they were planning on going into debt for back-to-school shopping.
