One of the key financial aspects to owning a car is to set aside a budget for repairs and maintenance. After all, what seems like minor damage to your vehicle can end up costing you much more than expected.

According to Kelley Blue Book, the average car repair reportedly costs around $838, but some can go above $10,000. Here are five cars that may be mostly likely to cost you $10,000 in repairs before reaching 100,000 miles.

Land Rover

According to Consumer Reports, several European luxury marques are clustered as the most expensive car brands for repairs and maintenance. In fact, Land Rover was among the most expensive with a 10-year cost of $17,450.

So before you grab a Discovery, Defender or Range Rover, keep in mind you may be looking at costly repairs down the road. You may find yourself out more than $10,000 before the vehicle even hits 100,000 miles.

Porsche

If you’re looking at a name like Porsche for your next ride, perhaps you’re already expecting to pay quite a bit in overall vehicle costs. However, you may find repairs are more costly than you think, at least according to various rankings and reports. Keep that in mind when you’re considering a Macan, Cayenne or 911.

Mercedes-Benz

Here’s another popular car brand that may cost you $10,000 in repairs before hitting 100,000 miles. According to Consumer Reports, Mercedes-Benz vehicles have an average 10-year cost of $13,100 when it comes to repairs and maintenance. So you may want to consider other SUVs when looking at the GLE or GLC.

Audi

You can add Audi to the list of car brands that may cost you more than expected in repairs. In fact, it’s reported to be among the most expensive cars when it comes to repairs and maintenance. The average 10-year cost for an Audi is $11,050.

Volvo

Maybe you’re thinking about buying a Volvo XC60, XC90 or S60. If so, it may be a good idea to budget for costly repairs. With Volvo, the average 10-year cost comes in just under $10,000 ($9,825).

Other Options for Your Budget

If you’re looking for brands and vehicles with generally lower repair and maintenance costs, Consumer Reports suggested Tesla or Lincoln. With any vehicle, you can try to avoid costly repairs by keeping up regular oil changes and routine maintenance.
