Being on top of all things financial and staying on track in a consistent manner can be difficult. There are many culprits — perhaps it’s a lack of time, lack of organization or a lack of a plan. In turn, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed with personal finances, which then can have detrimental consequences.

As such, sometimes getting back to basics can be useful, and just getting a piece of paper and a pen can help you manage your financial situation and have a better understanding not only of where you stand- but what you should do to be in better shape.

Enter financial expert and host Dave Ramsey’s financial forms. On his website Ramsey Solutions, Ramsey offers a slew of downloadable spreadsheets, which “if you’re an on-paper, on-purpose type of person when it comes to handling your personal finances,” may prove handy.

Here are five of them:

1. Income Sources Recap

This spreadsheet can be very useful for people who work several jobs or have different income streams.

2. Monthly College Planning

According to the website, this form can guide you to clarify how much you’ll need to plan.

3. Debt Snowball

Ramsey deemed this form “the fun one.”

This form helps you list all your debts, from the smallest to the biggest.

4. Monthly Retirement Planning

With this form, you’ll be able to determine how much you need to retire comfortably and how much you need to save monthly to achieve this.

5. Breakdown of Savings

“Here, you can write down your savings goals for various expenses and update the balances as they grow,” according to the website.

Go Digital

Now, if you’d rather track your finances digitally, you can also use Ramsey’s EveryDollar app.

According to the app’s website, using the app, which is “like a GPS for your money,”  can enable you to cut your monthly expenses by 9%.
