While many Americans may be cutting back on spending this holiday season, celebrities with high net worths tend to spend as much as they want on holiday gifts and decor, regardless of inflation, the economy or other concerns that plague many people.
A recent HarrisX poll, conducted on behalf of Inc.com, revealed that 40% of Americans said they expect their 2025 holiday budget to be smaller than last year.
Celebrities may not have to cut their budgets. But no matter how much they spend, it might be difficult to top their past holiday splurges, based on these extravagant indulgences.
1. Kris Jenner’s $4,000 Goyard Bag
Even celebrities know the best gifts are thoughtful and practical. Kylie Jenner gave her mom and manager Kris Jenner a gorgeous Goyard duffle bag last year, customized with photos of all the children.
Page Six reported the bag cost around $4,000.
2. Kourtney Kardashian’s $36,500 Christmas Trees
In recent years, even middle-class Americans have begun decorating their homes with multiple Christmas trees. Of course, celebs have to set the trends and go over the top. Kourtney Kardashian invested in “at least five Christmas trees” in 2018, according to People.
The total value was estimated at $36,500, but we’re not clear on whether that includes the two not-quite-life-size faux polar bears flanking the largest tree or the red and white ornaments. Â
3. Kim Kardashian’s $40,000 Hermès Birkin Bag
Rapper Kanye West gifted Kim Kardashian a giant, beige Hermès Berkin bag for Christmas 2013, when the couple was still together.
The bag cost $40,000 off the shelf, but West had to put his own twist on it. He commissioned “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” album cover artist George Condo to customize the bag with surreal paintings of nude people, creating what The Cut called “possibly the ugliest bag in the history of civilization.”
4. Beyoncé’s $350,000 Collection of Birkin Bags
Birkin bags are apparently the gift of choice for many celebs. And Beyoncé had plenty of choices waiting for her on Christmas morning, when husband Jay-Z gifted her an entire collection of Birkin bags, reportedly worth $350,000.
It was a last-minute splurge, purchased from the Hermès store on Madison Avenue in New York City on Christmas Eve. That power move — or maybe it was a panic move — makes a strong case for planning ahead and doing your shopping early if you’re trying to stick to a budget.
5. Mariah Carey’s $400,000 Rolls-Royce
It’s fitting that the queen of Christmas herself, Mariah Carey, gets to revel in extravagant holiday gifts. In 2010, then-husband Nick Cannon gifted the new mom a $400,000 Rolls-Royce Phantom with vanity plates that read “MommyMC,” as reported by E News.
I guess Cannon didn’t listen when Carey told him, “All I want for Christmas is you.”
