From mashed potatoes to a veggie sheet pan bake, shoppers that snag yellow onions at Aldi will find all sorts of ways to incorporate them into Thanksgiving dinner. At $1.69 for a 3-pound bag, these onions are competitively priced and can be cooked and added into more favorite recipes post-Thanksgiving.

Is it cheaper to shop for a 10-pound bag of Russet potatoes at Walmart or Aldi? 

Aldi takes the Thanksgiving win in this category — e.g., Walmart retails its 10-pound bag of potatoes for $5.24 online. From mashed to crispy, peel ’em up and whip up your favorite potato dish (or dishes).

Crown your green bean casserole with Chef’s Cupboard French fried onions and save a little money. 

While most Aldi shoppers know these onions are cheaper than name brands, they might not realize they’re also cheaper than in-house brand offerings at big-box retailers. Target’s Good & Gather brand, for example, retails French fried onions at $3.59 for a 6-ounce package. For that price, shoppers can buy two containers of the French fried onions at Aldi.

Keep several cans of Chef’s Cupboard condensed cream of mushroom soup on hand for all your casserole prep needs this Thanksgiving. At 68 cents each, these are slightly cheaper to shop for at Aldi than name-brand offerings.
