Nordstrom Rack is a discount retailer selling many of the same brands as luxury department store Nordstrom, but at markdowns as much as 70%. However, not everything at Nordstrom Rack is the tremendous deal you might believe.
While you’ll find everything from Uggs and Nikes to designer jewelry, careful shopping can ensure you get the best deals this holiday season. They may not be worth the price or you may find that the recipient cannot return them if you’re purchasing a gift.
Here are some little luxuries you may want to skip for a variety of reasons.
MAC Cosmetics 6-Pan Eyeshadow Palette
Eyeshadow palettes provide a variety of coordinating colors to make choosing your look a breeze. But shoppers should be aware that you can’t return cosmetics purchases at Nordstrom Rack.
That’s not an unusual store policy, but if you are choosing a gift for a friend, you may want to give a gift card, instead.
Many make-up palettes are 50% off or more, but this MAC Cosmetics 6-pan eyeshadow palette isn’t discounted, which means you may find a better deal (and more color varieties) with options from Urban Decay and others.
Fragrances
Nordstrom Rack often has deals on fragrances. But many of the popular scents, like Versace Eros or Jean Paul Gualtier Le Male, are only 15% to 33% off.
YouTuber Christinabtv recommended checking Costco for perfume sets at 50% off, instead. Likewise, if your local mall has a 50% off fragrance kiosk, you may also find the trendiest scents discounted 50% or more.
“However, if you are buying gifts right now, I wouldn’t recommend buying a fragrance for anyone [if] you don’t know what they like,” Christinabtv said in a Black Friday YouTube video. “Fragrances are very personal.”
Ice Flow Aerolight Stanley Bottles
Stanley Ice Flow Transit bottles look like a good deal, with prices discounted from 22% for the 36-ounce size up to 27% for the 50-ounce bottle. But Nordstrom Rack has limited colors available, which may not appeal to everyone on your list.
Koolaburra by UGG
Nordstrom Rack is offering Koolaburra by UGG platform slippers for men and women for 10% to 13% off. UGG slippers have been a hot holiday gift for several years running.
But the Koolaburra label doesn’t provide the same quality and comfort as the UGG brand, according to many shoppers. UGG slippers, on the other hand, have been known to last for years.
Instead of settling for Koolaburra, save up to 40% off UGG classic slippers, newly marked down this holiday season, and enjoy true luxury.
Nike Socks
Socks may be a boring holiday gift, but the teen boys on your list won’t mind receiving Nike crew socks in their stocking. If you want to save money, though, don’t buy them at Nordstrom Rack.
Right now, the discount retailer lists a three-pack of Nike Everyday Cushioned Training Crew Socks for $16.97, just 5% off. Macy’s, on the other hand, has a six-pack of similar Nike socks for $20.99, which is 25% off.
