Lowe’s and competitor Home Depot are launching into competing Halloween sales early this year, whether to satisfy consumer appetite for the bone-chilling season or to get ahead of the ongoing tariff situation.
Regardless of the economic impetus behind the move, Lowe’s has released an expansive collection of all things scary — and in some cases, downright budget-friendly buys. For those looking to create the Halloween mystique without breaking the bank at Lowes, read on.
Also here are three Halloween buys that usually break your budget.
Outdoor Halloween Decor
- Price: $29.99 to $49.99
To get things started in setting the misty, sepulcheral mood, you might want to consider a Froggy’s Fog 400-watt fog machine from Lowes. While user reviews are mixed (just ensure you test it out before relying on it during the lead-up to Halloween, as most complaints are out of the box), at $49.98, you can’t really complain. A gallon of similarly branded Faze Haze goes for $44.98, ensuring you never run out of fog to set the spooky mood.
A shriek-inducing selection of animatronics and inflatables are also available from the home improvement retailer. Haunted Hill Farm has a 6-foot talking and lighted “Belladonna” the witch yard decoration for $49.99, as well as a 4-foot moaning and illuminated “Spooky” the clown door decoration for $29.99.
Haunted Living has a Snag a 3-foot lighted blow mold tombstone for $49.99, a 5-foot ultra-pose skeleton which is also illuminated for $44.98 or, if you’re into a more comedic aesthetic, a 4-foot 5-inch witchy cow, complete with pig in a jack-o’-lantern inflatable for $39.98.
Joyfy offers a huge 9-foot freestanding alien inflatable at Lowes, which lights up from the inside and is presented in an ethereal green hue, for $48.98. If a ghostly milieu is more up your alley, a two-pack of about 3 feet of hanging lighted ghosts is available for $43.99, casting a seasonally appropriate purple shade. A fun 3-foot freestanding lighted dragon (which looks more like a dinosaur, really) inflatable is on for $44.98 and the promotional photos show it clawing its way out of the hatch of an SUV for extra terror.
Indoor Halloween Decor
- Price: $4.98 to $39.99
If an indoor bash or frightening trick-or-treaters in your porch, is more your style, look no further than this Haunted Living 8.5-foot light-up jack-o’-lantern for $10.98 or assortment of gel clings from the same brand (bats, ghosts, a crescent moon, a treant, a haunted mansion and others for just $4.98).
A DII black-and-white table runner depicting portraits of ravens, witches and more at $14.80 is available for the snacks area and a truly gothic artificial pumpkin wreath (in vibrant purple, mint orange and pink hues cast against a jet-black base) is on sale for $39.99 (regular $49.99), until Sept. 17.
Halloween Lighting
- Price: $17.98 to $49.98
No Halloween home decorating affair is complete without lights, right?
Lowe’s offers a 50-count 10-foot incandescent string of lights in a yellow-to-orange gradient that resembles pumpkins — or candy corn? — for $17.98 or a 180-count 8-foot LED purple light curtain for $19.98 to go over your door frames.
Disney offers a duo of LED light projectors, if that’s more your style. A “Haunted Mansion”-themed twinkling footsteps projector goes for $49.98 and a Constance Hatchaway (aka “The Black Widow Bride”) projector will set you back a bit less, at $39.98.
Keeping trick-or-treaters safe (and also spooked) with pathway lights? Look no further: A three-count set of traditional ghosts retails for $23.98 at Lowe’s, while a five-count of flickering candles rings up at $28.98.
