If you’ve been shopping within the past year or so for a new truck, you know that the latest models have new tech features and increased options to customize. You also know how expensive pickups can be.
However, there’s good news that can help ease the pain of the sticker price. According to MotorTrend, and its partner IntelliChoice, these particular trucks that will hold their value for the next five years or more. They are listed along with their percent resale value. Keep in mind the numbers listed represent average value retained from all of a model’s trim levels.
Here are 10 new trucks that are worth the money.
1. 2023 Toyota Tacoma: 73.1%
You may need to ignore some of the bad things you’ve heard about the Tacoma, such as cramped space and not the best on fuel. That’s because it’s proven to be reliable and a solid value pay.
2. 2023 Jeep Gladiator: 70.0%
The Jeep Gladiator’s good looks make it stand out on this list of new trucks that will hold their value. It has a pretty spartan interior and not the best results during the towing test. However, its aesthetic appeal helps in maintaining value.
3. 2023 Chevrolet Silverado HD: 67.8%
This is essentially the more mainstream version of the GMC Sierra HD. However, the Silverado retains its value a bit better on average. One thing to keep in mind is that Chevrolet High Country models depreciate the most.
4. 2023 GMC Sierra HD: 67.0%
These are known to work hard and have some luxurious trim. It’s the midrange 3500 SLT trims that do the best, with some keeping more than 68% of their value.
5. 2023 Chevrolet Colorado: 66.5%
The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado is known to have more of the cool factor than its predecessor –thanks to far more design-oriented and feature-filled options. This one is compared to the GMC Canyon in many ways but holds its value better.
6. 2023 Ram 2500 HD: 66.3%
The Ram 2500 HD comes with handsome looks, an upscale interior and strong powertrains. You can get maximum value retention with a Mega Cab truck in “Lone Star” or “Big Horn” trim.
7. 2023 Ford Maverick: 65.6%
The 2023 Ford Maverick is a small truck with a big retained value. It delivers good fuel economy and capability. The basic XL FWD hybrid version holds its value the best at 67.5%.
8. 2023 GMC Canyon: 65.5%
This Canyon may look tough – but it’s gentle when it comes to holding its resale value. The off-road ready AT4 trim has a 67.9% resale value, while the luxurious Denali variant stands at 64.9%.
9. 2023 Toyota Tundra: 65.1%
Toyota has a reputation for building reliable vehicles. The Tundra is one of the best resale value trucks. The SR trim with RWD configured with the crew cab and short bed holds its value best at 73.8%. The rugged TRD Pro model is at 63.6%.
10. 2023 GMC Hummer EV: 65.0%
The figure above applies to the Hummer EV First Edition. Part of the value retention for this one could be its pop-culture appeal or potential future collectability.
