As many Americans struggle to afford the high price of new cars, used cars are rising in popularity — even cars that are 10 years or older. A recent iSeeCars.com study found that the market share of cars 10 years old or older has increased by 30% since 2014. Older sedans, wagons and hatchbacks are particularly in high demand, accounting for 16 of the top 20 models with the biggest growth in older car market share, the study found.
Opting for an older used car may make financial sense, as the average price for a used car that is 10 years or older is $12,194. And among the most popular models, many are even under $10,000.
