Whole Foods isn’t the cheapest place to shop, but it does carry a handful of items that make holiday hosting easier. If you’re cooking everything from scratch, Whole Foods has every ingredient you’d need. Of course, if saving time matters more than saving money, their holiday catering and ready-made items can take a lot of pressure off your plate, too.
Here are the Whole Foods items responsible retirees should pick up before hosting Christmas.
1. Black Box Chardonnay
- Price: $18.99
If you want an affordable, low-maintenance alcoholic beverage to offer guests, this Black Box chardonnay contains three liters of California chardonnay for under $20. It stays fresh for six weeks after opening, and according to Whole Foods, it pairs well with grilled chicken, white fish and soft cheese
2. Yule Log
- Price: $26.99
A Christmas staple, you can pick one up Yule logs at Whole Foods for about $27. The rolled chocolate sponge cake is filled with malted chocolate mousse and covered with chocolate ganache, topped with chocolate buttercream and garnished. It serves roughly four to six guests.
3. Maple Bourbon Ham
- Price: $59.42
For $6.99 per pound, or an estimated total price of just under $60, you can buy a smoky-sweet maple bourbon spiral-sliced ham at Whole Foods. All you have to do is heat, add the brown sugar citrus glaze and serve to your guests. The ham comes raw, so make sure to factor in cook time before guests arrive.
4. Holiday Entertaining Package
- Price: $79.99
If you don’t want to prepare appetizers and don’t feel like spending a fortune on an entire feast, Whole Foods sells a holiday entertaining package that serves eight people. It includes a classic antipasti platter, chicken satay platter, truffle and chive deviled eggs and cranberry brie purses. All items arrive cold, and some may require reheating.
5. Holiday Feast for 12
- Price: $449.99
No time to cook? You can order an entire holiday feast that serves 12 people for $450. The spread comes with salt and pepper prime rib roast with burgundy red wine jus, maple bourbon ham with brown sugar citrus glaze, sea salt and cracked pepper green beans, creamed spinach, roasted butternut squash with cranberries and sage, mashed russet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, lobster bisque and brioche dinner rolls.
