When it comes to electric vehicles (EVs), Tesla often comes to mind for many people. However, there are EVs that beat Tesla in terms of range, charging speed, interior space, off-road performance and even running costs.
GOBankingRates spoke to Zach Shefska, CEO of CarEdge, who shared four EVs that are worth considering if you’re in the market for an electric car.
Lucid Air
Are you shopping for a premium EV sedan? The Lucid Air is a direct competitor to the Tesla Model S in many ways. Where the Lucid really shines is in its efficiency, range and overall refinement.
“If you’re considering the Tesla Model S, the Lucid Air is worth a look. This luxury sedan offers faster charging, greater range and better efficiency,” Shefska said. “In fact, it’s currently the most efficient car available.”
The interior is another standout. “Its spacious, airy cabin creates a notably different driving experience from the Model S. Those with the need for speed (and a high budget) can check out the Air Sapphire,” he said.
Rivian R1T
Tesla’s Cybertruck may dominate headlines, but when it comes to real off-road capability, the Rivian R1T consistently proves itself in the field. This EV truck is built with outdoor performance in mind.
“For off-road capability, the Rivian R1T surpasses any electric truck, including the Tesla Cybertruck,” Shefska explained. “Real-world testing demonstrates the R1T’s genuine off-road credentials.”
The R1T is also practical for everyday driving. It offers fast charging and good range, making it usable for both daily commutes and weekend trips.
Chevrolet Silverado EV
Range matters, especially for truck buyers, and this is where the Chevrolet Silverado EV quietly dominates. With an estimated 478 miles of range on a single charge, that’s hard to beat.
“Its ultra-fast charging capability adds 120 miles in just 10 minutes, a remarkable achievement given the vehicle’s massive battery capacity,” Shefska said.
Volvo EX90
For families comparing three-row electric SUVs, the Tesla Model X may come to mind, but the Volvo EX90 may be a better option for everyday family needs.
“The EX90 offers more luxury features, 310 miles of range and seating for up to seven passengers, making it one of the top three-row electric SUVs for families,” Shefska noted.
