According to the 2026 American Customer Satisfaction Index, Trader Joe’s has the highest customer satisfaction ratings among grocery stores in America. It dethroned Publix, which held the honor the year before.

Customers ranked stores based on factors such as convenience, customer service, store hours, and store layout, among others. Given that Trader Joe’s is known for its unique products and incredibly friendly staff, it’s no wonder the grocery store chain took the top spot on this year’s survey.

Trader Joe’s is especially good for retirees due to its affordable prices and smaller size. Here are some of the best Trader Joe’s comfort foods retirees swear by in winter.

Trader Joe's Margherita Pizza

Margherita Pizza

This $4.99 Trader Joe’s Margherita Pizza is perfect for a quick lunch. At 15 ounces, it’s the size of a personal pan pizza, and the price is low enough that it’s easy to buy two. It’s made with traditional Italian tomato sauce and thick mozzarella rounds with basil leaves.

Chicken Sausage Ravioli

This Chicken Sausage Ravioli is a newer item and features thin-stuffed pasta with chicken sausage and several different cheeses. It’s hearty, savory, only takes three to four minutes to cook, and is $4.49, making it the perfect, easy dinner for cold nights.

Stuffed Peppers

Another great meal that’s easy to heat and serve is Trader Joe’s stuffed peppers. These stuffed peppers are $6.99 and come with seasoned ground beef, rice, tomato sauce, and parmesan cheese. For retirees who are dedicated to wellness and healthy eating, this is a great meal as it’s 400 calories and includes 20 grams of protein.

Mushroom Risotto

Trader Joe’s mushroom risotto is a delicious blend of rice, mushrooms and spices. It’s imported from Italy and is only $3.99. Retirees can make this warm, hearty dish quickly and serve it as the main course or as a side dish.

Cheese-Filled Fiocchetti with Pink Sauce

Fiocchetti refers to a pasta that looks like a little bow or knot. This is a $4.79 frozen entrée that features this type of pasta filled with several different types of cheeses in a pink sauce. The best part is that customers can make this in the microwave or on a stove top. This is a truly easy winter comfort dish that can be ready in a few minutes.
