According to Zillow, the average home price in the U.S. is $362,481, which is up 3.3% since the previous year. Zillow also reported 34.6% sales over list home prices and 46.3% under list prices. While some people argue that home prices have been more affordable during President Joe Biden’s tenure, housing was one of the core areas his government promised to improve. 

According to this GOBankingRates data, Florida tops the list of states where average home prices have increased the most since Biden’s presidency. Home values from 2021 were compared against home values from 2024 and the differences were calculated in price and percentage for improved accuracy. Here’s a look at the list of where home prices have increased most.

Methodology: For this piece, GOBankingRates looked at the January 2021 (Biden was sworn in Jan. 20, 2021) and July 2024 (most up to date) home values for every state as sourced from Zillow’s July 2024 data for single-family residences. With these figures, GOBankingRates was able to find both the monetary and percent change in home value for every state over President Biden’s term in office so far. Rankings were determined by the greatest percent change in home value. All data was collected and up to date as of Sept. 10, 2024.
