In an effort to draw in new customers, Chrysler has decided to offer its own “cash for clunkers” incentive by matching the government’s Car Allowance Rebate System (C.A.R.S) program. Chrysler’s deal will either match the $4,500 offered by CARS, or offer 6 years of interest-free financing. That makes this a truly attractive auto loan rate.

Where Can I Learn More About CARS?

Unofficially known as the “cash for clunkers” program, the CARS initiative is the government’s effort to jump-start slow-moving car sales and a laggard industry while at the same time taking older, less fuel-efficient cars off the street.

Quick Guidelines for Eligible Vehicles

Here are a few simple guidelines that will enable your vehicle to qualify:

  1. Trade-in vehicles must be built on 1984 or after, so cars older than 25 years will not qualify
  2. Trade-in vehicle must get 18 miles per gallon or less
  3. Trade-in vehicle must be registered and insured for a year before trade-in period

You can check the government’s official fuel economy site to see how your car rates.
