Becoming a billionaire is rare — only about 3,000 people worldwide have reached that milestone, according to Forbes. But an even smaller, more elite group has emerged: the “superbillionaires.” These are individuals with a net worth of $50 billion or more, and as of 2025, there are just 29 of them, Fortune reported.

Here’s what you need to know about this ultra-exclusive club.

Most Superbillionaires Call the US Home

According to Altrata data cited by Fortune, the United States dominates the superbillionaire landscape. Of the 29 individuals with $50 billion-plus fortunes:

  • 19 live in the U.S.
  • 3 live in China
  • 2 live in India
  • 2 live in France
  • 1 lives in Spain
  • 1 splits time between countries

Nine of the 10 richest superbillionaires live in the U.S., including household names like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Larry Ellison, Mark Zuckerberg and Warren Buffett.

Tech Titans Dominate the Superbillionaire List

The AI revolution and tech innovation have fueled unprecedented wealth growth. Many superbillionaires built their fortunes in technology, including:

  • Elon Musk (Tesla, SpaceX)
  • Larry Ellison (Oracle)
  • Mark Zuckerberg (Meta)
  • Larry Page and Sergey Brin (Google)
  • Jensen Huang (Nvidia)

These tech giants have seen their net worths skyrocket thanks to the AI boom.

Their Combined Wealth Tops $4 Trillion

Collectively, the 29 superbillionaires are worth $4.13 trillion. To put that in perspective:

  • That’s more than the GDP of both France and the U.K.
  • It rivals the market cap of Apple, the second-most valuable company globally.
