It’s one of the best times of year to buy a car. Those who are undecided might be looking to see what some of the top sellers are. These top-ranking Japanese models are selling well for good reason.

“Japanese automakers are world-renowned for their consistently high build quality and reliability, as well as their seamless integration of the latest driver tech features,” Nigel Tunnacliffe, the co-founder and CEO of Coastline Academy, explained. “Many Japanese brands also boast excellent fuel efficiency, which makes them especially popular with today’s fuel-conscious consumer.”

Check out why auto experts say these models in particular are the top sellers of 2024

Toyota RAV4

According to Tunnacliffe, drivers who opt for the Toyota RAV4 are really getting the best of all worlds.

“The Toyota RAV4 is a mainstay of the compact SUV category due to its ability to balance exceptional tech and safety features with competitive fuel economy,” he said. “It has a roomy interior that provides passengers with a comfortable ride while simultaneously allowing for an impressive amount of storage.”

Honda CR-V

Erin Kemp is a consumer advocate for Bumper and explained that the CR-V offers a lot for drivers who are looking for an environmentally friendly car but aren’t going full electric.

“This model is popular among customers because it delivers a spacious interior, soft handling, and terrific fuel efficiency — a recipe that sells to a lot of eco-conscious buyers, especially in the hybrid models,” she said.

Toyota Camry

“This is a car that comes to mind for many people when they think of reliability and affordability,” Kemp explained.

The 2025 model is going to be hybrid-only, which is a bonus for those looking to cut down on their carbon footprint.

Nissan Rogue

Tunnacliffe commented that on top of all of its elevated features, the Rogue feels downright luxurious.

“The Nissan Rogue’s interior is one of the best in its class, offering exceptional comfort and roominess on top of a suite of excellent tech features,” he said. “Bordering on luxury, the style of its interior is complemented by the vehicle’s exceptionally smooth and quiet ride, making it a great car for a long trip.”

Honda Civic

The Honda Civic is typically a top seller and Kemp explained that’s because it has everything drivers are looking for.

“Modern design, efficient performance and additional hybrid variants are some of the many reasons the Honda Civic continues to be so popular,” Kemp said. “Reliability, affordability and value just add to the features that keep customers loyal.”

Tunnacliffe agreed, adding Civics are known for their longevity.

“It has a high build quality that ensures it will continue to deliver lasting value throughout its lifetime,” he noted.

Toyota Corolla

There’s a reason why it feels like every other car on the road is a Toyota Corolla.

“The Corolla’s continued performance among buyers reflects its consistency when it comes to factors such as value and good fuel efficiency,” Kemp explained.
