The term “luxury car” and “good gas mileage” don’t always go together, but there are a few notable exceptions.
Here are the cars experts said are the perfect blend of fuel efficient and sophisticated.
1. 2025 Lincoln Corsair Plug-In Hybrid
Erin Kemp, a consumer advocate for Bumper, recommended a plug-in hybrid that gets about 32 mpg with 28 miles of electric range.
“It’s ideal for short daily trips on electric power alone, therefore lowering total gasoline use,” Kemp said. “Lincoln’s attention to comfort guarantees a smooth, refined ride, while simultaneously helping drivers save on gas expenditures.”
2. 2025 Audi A6 MHEV
This Audi has a combined mpg of 25, which Kemp explained is impressive fuel economy when it comes to luxury cars.
“With its 2.0-liter turbocharged engine combined with a mild hybrid system, it offers a combination of power and efficiency and can run up to 30 MPG on the interstate,” Kemp said.
“The quattro® all-wheel-drive technology of Audi improves handling; luxury features such the virtual cockpit and Bang & Olufsen® sound system contribute to its attractiveness.”
3. 2025 Tesla Model X
Nigel Tunnacliffe, the co-founder and CEO at Coastline Academy, owns the Model X, and recommended it for both its tech features and fuel efficiency, as it has a 326 mile range.
“It looks and feels luxurious while avoiding the steep costs at the pump that come with non-electric luxury SUVs, and its engine outperforms the competition in the EV category,” he said.
“However, its ultimate advantage may be its reliability and build quality. As far as long-term investments in luxury cars go, the Model X is a difficult one to beat.”
4. 2025 Toyota Crown
“Though the popular imagination rarely associates Toyota with luxury, the Crown is a surprising competitive option in the luxury sedan category,” Tunnacliffe remarked, citing that its interior design is comparable to a Lexus.
He added that its gas mileage (42 mpg city and 41 mpg highway) is what really makes the hybrid Crown stand out.
“It takes the reliability, fuel efficiency and longevity associated with the Toyota brand and elevates these features into the realm of luxury, making it an unexpected though highly-compelling standout in this class.”
5. 2025 Lexus NX
Speaking of Lexus, Tunnacliffe praised the NX for its tech and safety features, and added that for a gas-powered car, it gets great mileage.
“Being a gas-powered vehicle, it simply cannot compete with the Model X in terms of fuel economy, but it does get better gas mileage than other SUVs of a similar price point,” he said. “It is highly reliable for a luxury SUV, and offers a strong, consistent performance that makes it a great choice for everyday use.”
The hybrid NX350h gets 41 mpg city and 37 mpg highway, while the gas-powered NX250 gets 26 mpg city and 33 mpg highway.
6. 2024 Lexus RX 450h+
Another Lexus on the list is this plug-in hybrid vehicle gets great gas mileage while being extremely chic.
“Drivers looking for a large car without compromising fuel efficiency will especially find great value in this configuration with 83 mpg-e,” Kemp raved. “Lexus’ hybrid technology lets the RX optimize fuel use, particularly in urban stop-and-go traffic, by matching electric motors with a strong but economical engine.”
7. 2025 Acura Integra
“When it comes to a luxury sedan that feels luxurious, the Integra is unmatched at its price point, and its strong fuel economy makes it an even more compelling buy,” Tunnacliffe raved.
He added that if you’re looking for a hatchback, this is the top-of-the-line option. The Integra gets 30 mpg city and 37 mpg highway.
8. 2025 Mercedes-Benz CLA
For those who love the Mercedes brand, Tunnacliffe described the CLA as a top choice for fuel efficiency among the brand’s fleet.
“Though its fuel economy cannot compete with the Toyota Crown, it remains more fuel-efficient than most other Mercedes models, making it an ideal pick for those who want the luxury experience without the excess costs,” he said.
“All in all, it is a solid and reliable choice for an everyday luxury sedan.”
The estimated combined mpg for city and highway is 31 mpg for the CLA.
