Ready to step into the luxury SUV market in 2025, but don’t have a bottomless budget? Auto expert Chris Pyle from JustAnswer recently offered some surprising insights about affordable luxury vehicles.

His analysis reveals which models deliver premium features without completely breaking the bank.

The Small but Mighty Contenders

When it comes to compact luxury SUVs, Pyle highlighted three standout options: the Acura RDX with an MSRP of $41,945, Audi Q3 with an MSRP $39,800 of and Volvo XC40 with an MSRP of $44,700.

“These are smaller SUVs,” Pyle said. “They lack in size but make up for it in plush amenities within; a quiet and smooth comfortable ride.”

The Entry-Level Porsche

For those dreaming of a Porsche badge, Pyle had good news.

“Heck [yeah], you get to own a Porsche,” he said of the Macan, adding that it’s “about the only one they offer that is affordable.” The Macan’s starting MSRP is $62,900.

He praised its driving dynamics: “It may not be like driving the small sports car, but Porsche did pretty well at making an SUV a larger, nimble sports car in an SUV.”

The Hidden Gem

The Genesis GV80, with an MSRP of $75,150, earned particular attention from Pyle.

“Although not popular, they rank well, [and] the price is not bad,” he said, adding an interesting insight: “I have never seen a customer repair question for one on JustAnswer. So they must be decent.”

The Practical Luxury Pick

For those seeking a practical blend of luxury and utility, Pyle pointed to the Lincoln Navigator. It’s not cheap, with an MSRP of $83,265, but may be less expensive in the coming year.

“It’s a nice one but plan to use it to tow, because it was designed to be a multi-use SUV, not just a people hauler,” he explained.

The Compact BMW

The BMW X1 offers an accessible entry point to the brand with an MSRP of $41,350, though Pyle noted some limitations: “This is one of the affordable BMWs, but it is rather small.” On the plus side, he added, “It also is a leader in good MPG.”

Luxury SUVs aren’t getting cheaper overall, but manufacturers are offering more accessible entry points to their premium brands — if you’re willing to consider compact models or emerging luxury nameplates.
