It’s hard to pass up the ease of Amazon, but those with a Costco membership might be better off shopping directly from the warehouse for some food items. Even if Amazon does sell Kirkland products, they sometimes come at a cost.
Here’s a side-by-side comparison of what $100 for groceries at Costco would cost if a customer opted to get the same products on Amazon.Â
Kirkland Signature Fancy Whole Cashews, 2.5 lbs
Shopping on Amazon for these Kirkland cashews will cost $15 more than getting them straight from Costco. Customers can even opt for 2-day delivery on these from Costco, whereas Amazon will take a week or more for delivery.Â
GoGo SqueeZ YogurtZ, Variety Pack, 3 oz, 20-count
Amazon wins for these yogurt packets. Customers can get the same package for $4 less than at Costco. Amazon also offers same-day delivery for Prime members.Â
NuTrail No Sugar Added Keto Nut GranolaÂ
This is a situation where the distribution of the product is different, but ultimately, Costco wins. Costco is selling two 22 oz packages of granola for $27.99. This is also a sale offer, as the pack usually sells for $36.99. On Amazon, customers would buy a pack of six with 8 oz of granola each. Though this does give customers more granola, paying $12 more for two more ounces isn’t really worth it.Â
Pure Life, Purified Water, 8 Fl Oz, Plastic Bottled Water, 24 Pack
Though this package of bottled water is the same price of just $0.03 a bottle at both stores, if a customer wants it delivered, it will cost more at Costco if they’re a Prime member.Â
Pure Leaf Tea, Unsweetened, 16.9 fl oz, 18-count
Costco clearly wins this round, as it will cost $20 more to buy the iced teas on Amazon. Even with Costco’s 2-day delivery fee of $3, it’s still more cost-effective to buy them, as these are not available for Prime delivery.Â
Garofalo, Organic Pasta, Variety Pack, 17.6 oz, 6-Count
Buying this pack of pasta will cost twice as much at Amazon as it would at Costco.Â
Kirkland Signature, Pure Sea Salt, 30 oz
This is a shocking difference: buying this jar of Kirkland sea salt will cost more than four times the price it is at Costco.Â
The total price for these grocery items at Costco ends up being $99.93, while at Amazon, nearly the same list would cost $159.74. It’s much more affordable to buy directly from Costco for these items, rather than trying to order them from Amazon.
