We have an inside tip if you’re shopping for cheap stocking stuffers this year. There are at least seven stocking stuffers available at Five Below that cost a lot more to purchase at Walmart. Depending on the item, Five Below shoppers receive savings of anywhere from 50 cents to several dollars for the same or similar offerings.
GOBankingRates carefully combed through the stocking stuffer inventory online at Five Below and found seven items that cost a lot more money at Walmart. Don’t wait to shop for these seven stocking stuffers while supplies last.
Carmex Holiday Lip Balm
- Price: $5
Lip balm, like the Carmex holiday lip balm set, is a popular beauty stocking stuffer since the individual packaging means it can be divided up into several stockings all at once.Â
At Five Below, a three-count set of Carmex holiday lip balm is $5, or $1.67 each. The same offering sold at Walmart is more than double the price. Though the current sale price is $9.99 for a set of three lip balms, this set typically retails for $12.99 online.
Mini Gel Pens
- Price: $2.25
Give the full set of 14-count mini gel pens or slip a few into each stocking to doodle, illustrate and let your imagination run wild.
While GOBankingRates was unable to find a 14-count gel pen set for sale on the Walmart website, a close offering is the Kingart glitter gel pen set with 12 pens for $3.98. Five Below shoppers save $1.73 and receive two extra pens as a bonus for their frugal shopping savvy.
Velvet Bows
- Price: $3.25
Add these cute velvet bows to a stocking for hours of hair styling fun. Each four-pack at Five Below is available in assorted colors including burgundy, pink and neutral.
A similar offering at Walmart is the set of four velvet hair accessories from M’lis. Originally $4.19, these are now at the reduced price of $3.77. That’s still more expensive, and lacks the color variety options, than what you’d get at Five Below.
Crayola Crayons
- Price: $1
Five Below has quietly cornered the market on cheap Crayola crayons. If you’re stuffing a stocking with coloring or activity books and need affordable crayons to pair with it, get them from Five Below. The same 24-count crayon box at Walmart costs $1.48 online.
Original Silly Putty
- Price: $1
You might be shocked at how little you’ll pay for Silly Putty at Five Below compared to Walmart.Â
At Walmart, a single egg of Silly Putty modeling dough retails online for $4.51. For that price, Five Below shoppers could buy four packs of Silly Putty and have a little change to spare.
Plastic Rainbow Slinky Toy
- Price: $1
Who has the cheapest Slinky: Five Below or Walmart? For the money, it’s Five Below with the can’t-miss $1 price tag.Â
At Walmart, the original Slinky toy retails for $3.97 — and doesn’t come in rainbow colors for that particular size.
Lisa Frank Sticker Sheets
- Price: $3.25
Kids will love getting Lisa Frank sticker sheets as a stocking stuffer since there are over 600 stickers to play with — and parents will love how much they saved by snagging them at Five Below.
GOBankingRates compared the Lisa Frank sticker pad (with 600 stickers) sold at Walmart vs. Five Below — and Five Below emerged the runaway winner. Similar sticker sheets cost $8.50 at Walmart, putting $5.25 back into shoppers’ wallets.
Editor’s note: Pricing and availability may vary depending on location.
