Move over Delta, United and American Airlines, there’s a new first class in town. Billion-AIR is set to hit the skies in late 2027 and marks the U.S. government’s decision to bring Elon Musk back into the fold, with President Donald Trump backing the initiative.

With tickets starting at $2,000 apiece, airport lounges are expected to become the playground of the uber-rich from all over the world — as well as the aspirationally wealthy with something to prove and a podcast to promote. The flagship airport will be located just outside of Washington, D.C., and despite potential legal ramifications, Billion-AIR boasts a mostly AI staff and absolutely no TSA regulations.
It seems that both Trump and Musk can once again agree on something, and it’s that flying on a private jet should be for everyone — everyone, that is, who can afford it.
You Get What You Pay For?
The airline’s core promise to travelers is that passengers will have the ability to skip every line, including security, customs, boarding, baggage claim and, in some cases, bathrooms.
This bold implementation was one of the driving factors behind why the Trump administration is backing Billion-AIR now. Neither he nor Musk is famous for their patience, so they’re putting that personality trait to good use by monetizing it.
This is leading several potential customers to ask the valid question of why they should pay more for this service if they already have PreCheck or similar amenities through other airlines.
In part, this is because the airline’s most infamous feature is TSA-Optional Boarding™, which allows passengers to bypass traditional security screenings entirely. As the TSA has not signed on or sanctioned this new luxury airline, you can assume the option is always to go without, mainly because they won’t be there.
Instead, travelers will undergo a brief verification process consisting of the following questions or requirements:
- Net worth confirmation
- $1 million annual membership fee
- Social media follower count review
- A short questionnaire asking, “How disruptive are you planning on being?”
The ethos is simple: If you’ve contributed enough to society, or at least claimed to or given the impression you have, you’re good. Please board. Remember, when you fly with Billion-AIR, shoes remain on, liquids are encouraged and the threat of getting what you pay for is meant to be a compliment in this case.
Pricing That Screens Out Anyone Who Doesn’t Use “Summer” as a Verb
Billion-AIR tickets start at just $2,000, but as this is economy seating, it doesn’t include a carry-on. Other add-ons include a guaranteed armrest for $1,500 or an empty middle seat in your row for $3,200. Frequent flyers earn Gold Lamé Miles, which can be redeemed for priority complaints and/or cryptocurrency.
The Final Ascent
Critics argue the airline represents the worst aspects of wealth culture, but isn’t the point of having exorbitant funds to be aspirational for everyone in late-stage capitalism? Billion-AIR flights begin boarding next year, or earlier, if you know someone. Proving once again that for some people — or rather, some net worths — the sky isn’t the limit.
