There’s a lot to look forward to as the calendar ticks down toward the end of the year. Naturally, there are the holidays, vacation time, the food — definitely the food. But the end of the year can also be a prime shopping time, with discounts and sales galore. While you might expect that you can get deals on certain items, like electronics, you might be surprised to find that certain car models could also drop in price.
To understand more about the cars that might experience slashing in their sticker prices, GOBankingRates caught up with Blake Shaw, automotive expert and author for the All About Wheels blog.
“In general, price cuts are becoming more common, especially for electric vehicles and higher-end models. This could be due to increasing inventory levels and manufacturer efforts to sustain sales momentum,” she said. “With this, plus shifting consumer preferences, several vehicle models will likely witness price reductions by the end of 2024.”
Here are a few of the models that might have price reductions.
2023 Mustang Mach-E
One of the first models that makes Shaw’s list is the 2023 Mustang Mach-E. She shared that this version of the Mach-E has come with some significant price cuts from Ford already — up to $8,100 — since Ford has a large stock of unsold vehicles from the previous year.
“Ford is still offering incentives like 0% APR financing, and the base model is priced at $39,895,” she added.
Chevrolet Blazer
Racing into the second spot, the Chevrolet Blazer could also tempt car buyers with its own set of major price cuts.
“The Chevrolet Blazer has seen steep price cuts of up to $6,520, seemingly to revive sales after a temporary hiatus,” she said. “As a whole, this trend represents the manufacturer’s attempts to keep up with the ever-expanding electric vehicle market.”
Nissan Ariya
Buyers who are interested in this fetching, environmentally friendly model might just be in luck.
“The Nissan Ariya base model is now available for $40,980, and higher trim levels have price cuts of up to $6,000,” Shaw said. “Since Nissan Ariya is not eligible for the federal EV tax credit, these changes are seemingly made to boost its attractiveness in the competitive electric SUV market.”
Mazda CX-90
Shaw called the Mazda CX-90 “everyone’s favorite and underrated three-row SUV,” before sharing that it was recently hit with some price reductions, particularly on higher trim levels.
“To counteract the impact of rising financing costs, Mazda has reduced the price of the Turbo Premium Plus model by $4,050,” she said.
Ioniq 6
The Ioniq 6 from Hyundai has seen some drastic price cuts, and Shaw said that some trim levels experienced price reductions of up to $4,100.
“Thanks to these reductions and increased efficiency, the Ioniq has become quite a formidable rival in the electric vehicle market, though we’re still left to see if it can reach wider audiences,” she added. “With this reduction, I’m betting it could.”
