When you’re searching for a truck, price and dependability may be among the top factors you’re considering.
If you’re in the market for a new ride, or just starting to think about it, here’s a look at five vehicles that last longer than you think and are worth the money.
Toyota Tacoma
When it comes to the best mid-size pickups, you may want to check out the Toyota Tacoma. According to Car and Driver, the 2024 Tacoma ranks among the best pickups for 2024 and 2025.
GOBankingRates also talked to Tomer Ruderman, founder and owner of Car Keys Ottawa, who listed Tacoma among the top picks.
“The Tacoma has a solid reputation for lasting a long time. It’s tough, handles off-road adventures easily, and just seems to run forever with basic maintenance. The V6 engine is known for being reliable, and Toyota builds them to hold up well over time. People love that they can drive it for years, and it still holds its value when it comes time to sell.”
Ford Maverick
When it comes to the best compact pickups, Car and Driver listed the 2025 Ford Maverick among top picks.
“For buyers who don’t need full-size pickup capability, the Maverick is an honest truck with plenty of capability in a space- and fuel-efficient package–and at a great price,” per Car and Driver.
Chevrolet Colorado
If you’re looking for mid-size pickups, you may want to consider the Chevrolet Colorado. Edmunds lists it among the best trucks of 2024 and 2025.
“The Chevy Colorado strikes a nice balance between being practical for everyday use and still being tough enough for work,” according to Ruderman. “It’s smaller than the full-size trucks, making it easier to drive and park, but still reliable for the long haul. The diesel option is a nice perk if you want better fuel efficiency without losing much power. Overall, it’s a dependable truck that can last a while with regular care.”
Ford F-150
There’s a reason the F-150 is so popular, it’s a reliable truck that can last you a long time.
“It’s reliable, durable, and works well for everything from towing to daily driving,” Ruderman said. “You’ll find these trucks running well past 200,000 miles, and the variety of engine options lets you choose what suits your needs. It’s a good all-around truck that also keeps a decent resale value if you ever need to trade it in.”
Ram 1500
In addition to the F-150, Edmunds listed the Ram 1500 as a top pick if you’re looking for a large truck.
According to Edmunds, “The powerful turbocharged six-cylinder engine gives the 2025 Ram 1500 lineup a big boost in power and performance. On top of that, the Ram’s interior is best-in-class, providing a level of quality and refinement that sets it apart from competitors. It isn’t the best truck for work — other trucks can tow and carry more — but if you’re looking for something to drive daily or don’t need to tow massive loads, the Ram’s appeal is undeniable.”
