Electric trucks are making a big splash in the EV market as one of the fastest growing sectors. Buyers who are ready to join the trend will be interested to know which models stand out — and where they might fit in the budget.
Here are five electric trucks to consider buying in 2025.
2025 Rivian R1T
- Starting price: $69,900
The Rivian R1T ranks 10 out of 10 on Car & Driver due to its outstanding capabilities. To start, it offers an estimated range of 258-420 miles per charge with the biggest battery pack offered. Next, it claims to go from 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds, which is impressive for a pickup.
Also, it can tow up to 11,000 pounds with the right equipment, which is equal to the Tesla Cybertruck’s towing capacity.
2025 Ford F-150 Lightning
- Estimated starting price: $49,875
The 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning has a 9 out of 10 rating on Car & Driver. It goes from 0-60 in four seconds and is considered the fastest F-150 Ford makes. Buyers who opt for the larger battery can get up to 320 miles per charge versus the smaller battery’s 230 miles per charge.
Additionally, with the extended range battery, it can tow up to 10,000 pounds. Ford also cleverly engineered the EV as a backup generator, which can power a household for up to three days in case of a power outage.
2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV
- Starting price: $73,100
The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV is a powerhouse when it comes to its towing capacity of 12,500 pounds. That’s more than any other truck on this list is capable of.
And while its ability to reach 0-60 mph is not as impressive as some of its competitors — clocking in between four to six seconds — it has an impressive battery range compared to many other EVs in its class. The LT equipped with an Extended Range battery can get up to 408 miles per charge, while the RST with the Max Range battery can get up to 460. Buyers who opt for the Work Truck trim with the Max Range battery can get up to 492 miles per charge.
Car & Driver ranks this Chevrolet EV an 8.5 out of 10.
2025 GMC Hummer EV Pickup
- Starting price: $96,550
The starting price for the 2025 GMC Hummer EV Pickup, rated 8 out of 10 by Car & Driver, is considerably more than its competitors — and for good reasons.
It’s large, it’s heavy, and it can go from 0-60 mph faster than a Corvette Stingray, according to Edmunds. Not only that, but no vehicle as heavy as the GMC Hummer EV — 9,640 pounds — is anywhere near as fast, Car & Driver wrote. Additionally, the electric truck’s towing capacity comes in at 12,000 pounds, right below the Rivian R1T’s 12,500-pound towing maximum.
Its range is a little less impressive than some of its competitors, however: The standard battery offers up to 311 miles per charge, while the 24-module battery claims to reach up to 381 miles per charge.
