When looking for a new vehicle, most drivers want a good ride at a reasonable price. And retirees living on a fixed income especially may be looking for a car that fits their lifestyle and their budget.

According to Edmunds, some of the notable features especially important to retirees might include access to driver-assist features, accessibility and comfort, and more physical buttons instead of touch-sensitive ones.

With those features in mind, here’s a look at five SUVs retirees might consider buying now.

Volkswagen Taos

  • 2025 starting MSRP: $26,420

When it comes to the best subcompact SUVs for retirees, the Volkswagen Taos may be among the top choices, according to Edmunds. This one is roomy and offers driver-assist features. According to Car and Driver, the 2025 model offers blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warnings, lane-centering features and more.

It also has buttons and controls that reviewers said are easy to use.

Honda HR-V

  • 2025 starting MSRP: $26,450

For about the same starting price as the Taos, the Honda HR-V may be another solid bet for retirees, per Edmunds. According to Car and Driver, the 2025 model offers a comfortable ride and responsive handling — perfect for retirees.

It also comes with Honda Sensing, which is a package of driver-assist features. Some of those include lane-keeping assistance and adaptive cruise control, which make it an even safer choice on the road.

Kia Sportage

  • 2025 starting MSRP: $28,565

Retirees looking for a new SUV may want to consider the Kia Sportage, per Edmunds. Reviewers have called it a great choice in a compact SUV for older drivers.

Lincoln Aviator

  • 2025 starting MSRP: $59,890

For retirees looking to spend some more on an SUV, the Lincoln Aviator may be a good choice.

While it’s a bigger SUV and may not be as easy to maneuver as other vehicles, it could be great for older drivers and passengers when it comes to entering and exiting the vehicle. Per Car and Driver, in the 2025 model, the front seats offer 30-way adjustability and massage capabilities.

Kia Sorento Hybrid

This hybrid has great ratings for fuel efficiency and plenty of space, which could be perfect for driving any grandkids around.
