Purchasing a new appliance is a decision that often comes at a large cost. Lowe’s has a great reputation for many of the appliances it sells, but some simply aren’t worth the price tag.

GOBankingRates saved you some research and found the five appliances you should skip when you’re shopping at Lowe’s.

KitchenAid Stainless Steel Built-in Indoor Wine Cooler

  • Price: $2,969 (reg. $3,299)

KitchenAid is a trustworthy brand with products that tend to stand the test of time. However, they can’t all be winners.

The KitchenAid stainless steel wine cooler is a pricey addition to your fleet of home appliances, but it doesn’t live up to its brand name. While it claims to hold 46 Bordeaux-sized bottles, there are multiple reviews stating that it holds far less.

“We were told we could fit up to 46 bottles of wine in it. This is impossible,” one reviewer shares. “The most we can fit is 26 bottles. These are all KitchenAid’s recommended sizes. I am so disappointed, I will go back to the store to return it.”

If you’re planning to pay $2,700 for a new wine cooler, you might want to choose one that can fit the entirety of your wine collection.

COWSAR Countertop Nugget Ice Maker

  • Price: $189.99 (reg. $337.79)

Even though this nugget ice maker is on sale at Lowe’s right now, you might not want to waste your money. The Cowsar countertop nugget ice maker seems like a good deal at first when you consider how much other nugget ice makers cost, but the quality isn’t the same.

Multiple reviewers noted that the machine is high maintenance. You’ll have to run the self-cleaning function every two to three days, and even then, it might still make loud grinding noises or stop working entirely, as some reviewers mentioned.

Equator Advanced Appliances Ventless All-In-One Washer Dryer Combo

  • Price: $1,459 (reg. $1,829)

An all-in-one wash dryer is a great laundry solution for small spaces, but with the higher price tag, you’ll want something that works well. Unfortunately, 66% of the Equator all-in-one Wash dryer combo’s reviews are 1-star.

It has multiple reports of breaking quickly, and reviewers share that it takes over four hours to finish a dry cycle. Even with three or four pieces of clothing, the excessive drying time might still leave your clothes damp and cause your electricity bill to rise in the process.

LG Craft Ice Side-by-Side Refrigerator Dual Ice Maker

  • Price: $1,399 (reg. $2,032)

If you were looking for a new refrigerator, you may want to skip the LG Craft Ice side-by-side refrigerator. In 2023, there was a class action lawsuit for this model of refrigerators since the ice makers repeatedly failed within a few weeks or months, according to classaction.org. It’s a common problem noted with Lowe’s reviewers, too.

For $1,400, you could find a fridge with a working ice maker.

Cafe Bellissimo Semi-automatic Espresso Machine

  • Price: $517.45

An espresso machine might help you save money on visiting coffee shops, but it’s important to buy the right one since they can be a bit pricey.

The Cafe Bellisimo espresso machine from Lowe’s has mixed reviews, with some customers reporting clogs with the grinder, leaks and temperature issues. For an espresso machine that costs over $500, you shouldn’t have to deal with these types of defects. A better option might be the Breville Barista Express, which is currently on sale for $549.95.
