With triple points for Amazon and Whole Foods Market purchases — and a welcome $50 gift card — the Amazon Rewards Visa card adds extra incentives for shoppers who frequently visit the online retailer. You can use your points to shop at Amazon or redeem them for cash back, gift cards and travel.
You can even take this Amazon credit card abroad because there are no foreign transaction fees — plus, the card comes with baggage delay insurance, lost luggage reimbursement, travel accident insurance and emergency assistance. Cardholders also enjoy premium perks such as the Visa Signature Concierge Service.
The Bank of America Cash Rewards Credit Card gives an additional layer of online shopping security and fraud protection through its free ShopSafe service, which generates a temporary credit card number to protect your actual card number when you make purchases online.
You can also get a 10 percent bonus if you redeem cash back into a checking or savings account from Bank of America — sweetening the initial $200 online cash rewards bonus offer. However, keep in mind that the higher cash-back rates for grocery, wholesale club and gas purchases are limited to $2,500 each quarter.
Rotating bonus categories for the Chase Freedom credit card have included Chase Pay, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and PayPal — which means customers received 5 percent cash back just for using their digital wallets to shop online. There’s no minimum redemption amount for cash back, and rewards don’t expire if your account remains open.
But, if you don’t remember to activate the bonus categories every quarter, you’ll miss out on 5 percent cash back, so this card might not be suitable for customers who want a hassle-free credit card experience.
Chase Freedom vs. Chase Freedom Unlimited: Which Cash-Back Card Is Best?
The Citi Double Cash Card is ideal for customers seeking an elevated 2 percent cash-back rewards rate for all purchases — including online spending. Additional perks include 24-hour fraud protection; Citi Concierge, which is a service you can use for expert assistance regarding dining, entertainment, shopping and travel needs; and Citi Private Pass, which provides special access to presale tickets and VIP packages for events such as concerts, sporting events and more.
Because the Citi Double Cash card is relatively no-frills, there’s a lack of enticing introductory offers.
The Discover it Cash Back card is one of the best credit cards for online shopping because the bonus categories for October through December in both 2018 and 2019 include Amazon purchases. That means customers are eligible to receive 5 percent cash back — plus an unlimited dollar-for-dollar match — from shopping online at Amazon if they open a Discover it Cash Back credit card during the last quarter of the year.
However, as with the Chase Freedom credit card, you’ll need to manually activate the bonus categories every quarter to reap significant rewards.
This credit card is very similar to the Discover it Cash Back card, but if you went overboard on shopping (especially during the holidays) and racked up debt, you could benefit from the generous balance transfer period on the Discover it Balance Transfer card. If you’re planning to address your credit card debt this way, however, you should know that there’s a 3 percent fee charged for each balance transfer.

Frequent users of cash-back websites such as Ebates could maximize their online shopping rewards by making purchases with an Ebates credit card. Cardholders can stack their 3 percent cash back at more than 2,500 stores, which makes the Ebates Cash Back Visa Credit Card one of the best credit cards for online shopping despite the measly $10 first purchase bonus.
For example, Ebates is currently offering 6 percent cash back at J.C. Penney — stacked with the extra 3 percent from this card, you could earn a whopping 9 percent cash back in total at this retailer.
The Uber Visa Card sets aside a double rewards category for online purchases, which highlights this card as one of the best credit cards for online shopping enthusiasts. Points are worth 1 cent each when redeemed for cash back, gift cards or Uber credits.
Additional perks for digital-savvy customers include up to $600 for cell phone damage or theft if you pay your mobile bill with the Uber Visa Card, as well as an annual $50 credit for online subscription services after spending at least $5,000 each year.
If shopping online and traveling are some of your favorite hobbies, the Capital One Venture card might be a good fit for you — it’s one of the best credit cards that help you speed through airport security. You’ll be rewarded with unlimited double miles for each dollar spent online or elsewhere, and you can take advantage of up to $100 in credit for TSA Precheck or Global Entry when you apply using the Venture credit card. But, keep in mind that you’ll need excellent credit to be approved, and it’s the only card on this list with an annual fee.
The Wells Fargo Cash Wise Visa Card gives customers a boosted 1.8 percent cash rewards rate for using Apple Pay or Google Pay to make purchases — which is ideal for people who prefer their digital wallets to traditional payment methods. And, you’ll get up to $600 in cell phone protection against damage or theft when you pay your monthly mobile bill with the Wells Fargo Cash Wise Visa Card. If your cell phone usage is heavy — whether it’s for work, entertainment or shopping — this additional protection could give you peace of mind.
