There’s some good news for those that want to buy a home, but struggle to find one that doesn’t cost an exorbitant amount of money. Eight Texas suburbs not only offer buyers homes for under $500,000, but they have ranked among some of the fastest-growing suburbs in the United States.
To determine which U.S. suburbs are among the fastest-growing, GOBankingRates isolated cities with a population between 25k and 200k residents and found their two-year numerical and percent change in total population from 2020 to 2022. From there, each city with a 9% or greater change in population from 2020 to 2022 was studied along with the city’s home value under $500k circa July 2024.
In order from suburbs with the highest to least expensive home values, keep reading to see which eight suburbs in Texas have home values under $500,000.
Canyon Lake

Methodology: For this piece GOBankingRates first found the (1) two-year numerical and percent change in total population from 2020 to 2022 for all cities with a population between 25,000 and 200,000. With these cities isolated, GOBankingRates focused on all cities with a 9% or greater change in population from 2020 to 2022; part of a metro statistical area with above 1 million in total population; with a July 2024 home value below $500,000. All data was collected and up to date as of Aug. 13, 2024.
