The following 100 gigs all make great side hustles because they’re available part-time and with flexible schedules. Most are within reach of ordinary people without unusual skills or highly technical backgrounds — and with many of them, it’s possible to earn much, much more.
Some entries cite average monthly pay. Others show the typical hourly rate. When reading, keep in mind that you can earn $100 a month by working just two hours per week at $11.54 per hour — and every side hustle on this list pays more than that.
Friend for Hire
Rent a Friend lets you lease out your awesomeness to people looking for platonic relationships. The site says you can earn up to $50 an hour, plus free meals, sporting events, concerts and more.
Companion for Seniors
Papa Pal is a site that pairs seniors in need of companionship and light assistance with side hustlers who can provide them with transportation, help them with everyday tasks and just spend time with them. You can work as little or as much as you like, and the average Papa Pal earns $22 an hour.
Babysitter
According to Parents.com, the average babysitter earns about $25 an hour in 2024 — a little more or less depending on where you live and whether you’re watching one child or more.
Dog Walker
Salary.com says the median dog walker makes $16 an hour in 2024.
Pet Sitter
According to ZipRecruiter, animal lovers can earn the same $16 an hour as a dog walker without touching a leash — that’s the average pay for a pet sitter.
House Sitter
Keeping an eye on people’s homes while they’re gone can also bring you $16 an hour. That’s what the Economic Research Institute says you can expect to make as a house sitter.
Rent Your Car
Turo lets you rent your car to motorists who want to avoid mainstream companies like Hertz. The average annual income is $10,516 for an auto host with one car to put to work.
Rent Your Driveway
If you don’t have a car to rent, you can make up to $150 per month on Neighbor by renting out your driveway to those who need a place to park their own.
Rent Your Parking Space
If you own the rights to a dedicated parking space, you can earn up to $300 per month on Neighbor renting it to drivers who need the spot.
Rent Your Garage
If you have a garage, Neighbor says you can increase your earnings by renting your space for $100-$600 per month.
Rent Your Shed
You can earn up to $200 per month renting your empty shed on Neighbor to people who are moving, are between apartments or simply need the space but don’t want to pay the high cost of professional storage.
Rent Unused Indoor Spaces
If you have an unused attic, basement, bedroom or other indoor space where people can store their stuff, you can earn up to $600 per month renting it out on Neighbor.
Rent a Room on Airbnb
If you have a spare room that you’re willing to rent to guests, Forbes says the average rate on Airbnb is $67 per night.
Rent Your Bike
Splinster is a site that lets you rent your bike on a p2p basis. The site says you can earn up to $500 a month in passive income, depending on your bike and location.
Rent Your Gear
You can also earn up to $500 on Splinster by renting out your surfboard, snowboard, skis or other specialty gear to vacationers, travelers and hobbyists.
Rideshare Driver
A classic side hustle that just about anyone with a license and a car can do, rideshare driving pays an average of $24 an hour with Lyft and $25 with Uber, according to Glassdoor.
Spark Driver
Walmart’s contract shoppers and delivery drivers are known as Spark Drivers, and ZipRecruiter says they make an average of $19 an hour.
Amazon Flex Driver
Amazon farms out some of its package delivery needs to contractors through its Amazon Flex program. It says the average driver earns $18-$25 an hour.
Instacart Shopper
According to ZipRecruiter, Instacart shoppers earn an average of $18 an hour.
Instacart Driver
If you prefer to deliver groceries instead of shopping for them, Indeed says Instacart drivers earn an average of $22.82 per hour.
DoorDash Driver
According to Indeed, the average DoorDash driver makes $16.37 an hour.
Grubhub Driver
Glassdoor says the average Grubhub driver earns between $20 and $28 an hour.
Pizza Delivery Driver
According to ZipRecruiter, the average pizza delivery driver earns $16 an hour.
Postmates Driver
According to Indeed, Postmates drivers make an average of $22.36 an hour.
Courier
Instead of groceries or food orders, couriers shuttle documents from point A to point B. According to ZipRecruiter, the average courier makes $17.34 an hour.
Turn Your Car Into a Moving Ad
You don’t need to deliver groceries, food orders or people to turn your car into a cash cow.
Companies like MarketYourCar pay up to $800 per month to wrap your vehicle in an advertisement so businesses can get their messages out every time you hit the road.

If you’re a wordsmith, Indeed says the average freelance writer earns just under $25 an hour. Dozens of platforms can help you get started, including Upwork, Fiverr and Writer Access.
Freelance Editor
If you prefer to assign work and manage workflow, you can make even more money as a freelance editor. ZipRecruiter says the average is $31.60 an hour.
Freelance Proofreaders
Between writers and editors are proofreaders, who earn between $20.43 and $33.65 per hour, according to ZipRecruiter.
Freelance Copy Editor
If you’re better at polishing up copy and making it more readable, ZipRecruiter says freelance copy editors earn between about $22 and $32 an hour.
Freelance Web Designer
If you have the skills to design and build websites for people and businesses, Freshbooks says the average freelance web designer earns an average of $36 an hour — even more than a freelance editor.
Freelance App Developer
If you’re better at building apps than websites, ZipRecruiter says you can earn an even better $53 an hour.
Freelance Graphic Designer
Digital artists can earn about as much as web designers. The average freelance graphic designer earns $35 an hour, according to Salary.com.
Freelance SEO
If you’re better suited for optimizing search, Upwork says the median SEO professional on its platform earns $21 an hour.
Freelance Copywriter
If you’re the type of writer who has a knack for informing people and selling products, freelance copywriters make an average of $31 an hour, according to ZipRecruiter.
Email Copywriter
If you specialize in email-specific copywriting, you can earn even more — $37 an hour, according to ZipRecruiter.
Freelance Bookkeeper
If you’re experienced in handling financial transactions and managing day-to-day functions like processing payroll and invoices for businesses and other organizations, Glassdoor says the average freelance bookkeeper earns $23 an hour.
Freelance Resume Writer
If you have the skills and background to earn your living by helping people land the jobs they need to earn theirs, ZipRecruiter says the average freelance resume writer earns $23 an hour.
Freelance Interview Coach
If you’re better suited for assisting job hunters after their resumes land them a meeting with a hiring manager, ZipRecruiter says the average freelance job interview coach earns just shy of $20 an hour.
Freelance Social Media Manager
If you have the skills, creativity and experience to manage a business’s or influencer’s social networks, Upwork says the median freelance social media manager earns $20 an hour.
Freelance Social Media Poster
If you’re not ready to manage social media accounts but are skilled at creating compelling posts, ZipRecruiter says you can earn $26 an hour as a freelance social media poster.
You can do it on your own time because social media managers can schedule your pre-written posts to go live on a predetermined schedule.

If you have a penchant for churning out high-quality and compelling videos, articles and other online content, ZipRecruiter says the average freelance content creator makes $56 an hour — one of the highest-paying gigs on the list.
LinkedIn Content Writer
If you can craft your drafts to meet LinkedIn’s specific guidelines, Glassdoor says you can make an average of $36 an hour writing for the social career platform.
Charge and Replace Scooters
Public e-scooter companies like Spin, Lime and Bird pay side hustlers like you to find, collect, charge and replace their two-wheeled rides after renters use them and drop them. According to Talent.com, the average pay is $25 an hour.
On-Demand Mover
If you’re able-bodied, you don’t have to join a moving company to get paid to help people relocate. Bellhop pays contract movers for on-demand work, which lets them remain independent and choose their own jobs and schedules. The average pay is $21 an hour, plus tips and bonuses.
Personal Assistant
ZipRecruiter says organized and reliable multi-taskers can earn more than $23 an hour farming out their skills as personal assistants.
Virtual Assistant
VAs have even more flexibility than personal assistants because they can work remotely. If you have the personal, professional and computer skills to make a person or company more efficient from your laptop, ZipRecruiter says you can earn $25 an hour for your efforts.
Catering Waiter
Unlike working at a restaurant, servers who contract with catering companies can pick their own hours and gigs. According to Zippia, they average more than $16 an hour.
Bartender
If you’re looking to pick up a few bartending shifts on the weekends or your off-hours, the Bureau of Labor Statistics says the average pay with tips is more than $14 an hour, but many make much more — and often have fun while they earn.
Mystery Shopper
Stores and restaurants hire people to go undercover as shoppers and diners to gauge the experience and customer service.
According to ZipRecruiter, they make an average of $714 per week — plus free meals and stuff.
Focus Group Participant
Businesses and marketers hire people to serve on focus groups before product launches and for ongoing feedback. ZipRecruiter says they pay an average of more than $27 an hour.

According to CBS News, most people can earn $5 a day by taking a few online surveys through Swagbucks, allowing you to reach $100 per month with 10 or 11 days to spare.

If you have the skills and background to help high school kids excel, ZipRecruiter says the average tutor earns $20 an hour.
College Tutor

TaskRabbit lets side hustlers accept hands-on gigs ranging from assembling furniture to cleaning houses. According to Glassdoor, the average pay is $48 an hour, depending on the task.
Data Entry Clerk
If you can type well and input data with consistent accuracy, Upwork says you can expect to earn about $15 an hour as a data entry specialist on its platform.
Freelance Fashion Stylist
If you have a flair for fashion, you can work with brands, people or fashion houses, offering advice, selecting and coordinating attire, collaborating and preparing shoots and promoting trends as a freelance fashion stylist. ZipRecruiter says the average freelancer earns $19 an hour.
Freelance Hairstylist
If you have the skills, experience and — in some states — the appropriate certifications, Indeed says you can earn an average of $22.57 an hour as a freelance hairstylist.
Freelance Makeup Artist
If you specialize in cosmetics instead of hair, many of the same people, productions, businesses and organizations might hire you on a contract basis. Payscale says the average independent makeup artist makes $22.45 an hour.
House Cleaner
Zippia says you can earn an average of $13.46 cleaning houses.
Handyman
If you have the skills and tools to maintain and repair homes and businesses, Homeguide says the average independent handyman or woman charges $50 to $80 an hour.
Washing Cars
You can launch your own mobile car washing and detailing business and bring that squeaky clean look to vehicles where they’re parked. ZipRecruiter says the average pay is more than $15.50 an hour.
Power Washing
A modest upfront investment in a power washer can earn you a side hustle that HomeAdvisor says can bring in $25 to $100 an hour.
Lawn Care
Similarly, all you need is a mower to get started with a lawn care side hustle. Salary.com says the average pay for mowing lawns is $25 to $34 an hour.
Gutter Cleaning
If you don’t mind heights and some dirty work, Forbes says you can charge $50 to $150 an hour to clean gutters.
Painter
If you’re an experienced painter, Salary.com says you can earn an average of $22 an hour putting your skills to work.
Tech Support
You don’t have to be technically skilled to excel in tech support, and ZipRecruiter says even beginners can earn nearly $27 an hour on the side.
IT Support
Freelance IT support side hustlers earn roughly the same as they might in tech support — $25 to $31 an hour, according to Salary.com.
Remote Customer Service
Like tech support workers, customer service side hustlers can work remotely and without any special equipment. Talent.com says the average pay is roughly $15.50 an hour.
Event Planning
If you have the background, experience, contacts and organizational skills, ZipRecruiter says the average freelance event planner makes more than $30 an hour.
Event DJ
DJs can make even more by providing entertainment at the events that planners put together. ZipRecruiter says the average hourly pay is more than $41 an hour.
Independent Consultant
Businesses in nearly every industry — as well as governments, productions and nonprofits — hire consultants. If you have knowledge for sale, Salary.com says you can earn an average of $43 an hour as a freelance consultant.
Lifeguard
If you have the swimming skills and lifesaving certifications, Salary.com says you can earn $13 an hour as a lifeguard at a pool, park, event, lake or resort.
Caddie
Caddies do a lot more than carry clubs, and if you can help golfers get their best game out of the course, then your next side hustle might come from your local country club. ZipRecruiter says the average caddie earns $19 an hour.
Photographer
Payscale says shutterbugs earn one of the widest pay ranges of any side hustle — between $13 and $77 an hour for photographers, depending on factors like the kind of event or shoot, location, length of time, clientele, etc.
Home Organizer
If you’re an experienced and creative organizer, Forbes says your skill at turning cluttered rooms into functional spaces can become a side hustle that pays an average of $55 an hour.
Interior Designer
If you’re adept and creating indoor spaces that get the most out of every room, Glassdoor says the average freelance interior designer earns $35 an hour.
Home Stager

According to GoodRx, the average donor makes $30 to $70 per “donation.”
