Are you considering upgrading your car to a newer model? Trading in your used vehicle can lead to potential tax savings, unlock a streamlined process and give you access to all the bells and whistles of a new vehicle.

Here are five cars worth trading in to buy a newer model

Toyota Camry

The Toyota Camry offers a combination of reliability, comfort and safety. With a high fuel efficiency and a lifespan of 200,000 to 300,000 miles, trading in your Camry for a newer model might be a wise financial decision. Even if you have over 150,000 miles, you will likely receive some money toward a newer model.

“The latest are gas-efficient and sleek and come with enhanced tech — wireless Apple CarPlay, enhanced safety features, all that good news,” said Alex Black, chief marketing officer at EpicVIN. “It’s still dependable, it’s just wiser and more refined now.”

Kia Sorento

Like the Toyota Camry, the Kia Sorento is known for its longevity, with an average lifespan of over 200,000 miles. The 2025 Kia Sorento has upgraded features, like third-row seating, all-wheel drive and a spacious interior. If you want to upgrade your old Kia Sorento, now might be the perfect time.

“Kia, in general, hit the market and built a reputation for cheaply made vehicles that didn’t last long,” said Melanie Musson, auto industry expert with AutoInsurance.org. “That’s not what they are anymore. They’re right in the competition for the best vehicles. The prices aren’t as low as they once [were], but customers find the increased price is worth the vastly improved dependability.”

Nissan Rogue

If you have an older Nissan Rogue, you might be eyeing up the latest model. With quilted leather seats, driver-assist features, high-end safety features and different drive terrain modes, the 2025 Nissan Rogue might check everything on your wish list. Used Nissan Rogue models are still a popular option, meaning you can easily trade in your old car for the newer model.

“The older versions of the Rogue were quite affordable, but sadly, they lacked in performance,” said Joe Giranda, director of sales and marketing at CFR Classic. “In contrast, the latest Rogue comes equipped with a turbocharged engine, updated interiors and additional safety features, which now allow the Rogue to compete with other compact SUVs.”

Honda CR-V

A well-maintained Honda CR-V can last 300,000 miles. Whether you are looking for a hybrid SUV or just upgraded features, the 2025 Honda CR-V might have crossed your mind. If so, it might be worth trading in your current Honda CR-V for the latest model. Why wait to enjoy top-of-the-line trim features, a premium sound system and innovative safety features?

“The redesign of the 2023 CR-V was a big step up,” said Black. “Better interior room space, hybrid availability on the table, and it just drives better. If you’re an owner of an older CR-V, you’ll love it right away — and especially if you’re in need of greater comfort or better mpg.”

Chevy Equinox

The Chevy Equinox is also built to last, with owners reporting reaching mileage of over 200,000. Although you could get plenty of additional years from your current Chevy Equinox, you might want to upgrade to the latest model.
