Did you know you can now buy a car with little to no human interaction? That’s the method behind having an AI car salesperson. You can even test drive the car using VR. Just like when you visit the dealership, navigating an AI car-buying experience involves some tricks of the trade.
Here below are what a few experts had to say regarding buying a car with AI. You can also check out how people use AI to build wealth.
Research First
There are some tactics that will not change whether you’re buying from a human or a robot. Erin Kemp, Bumper’s consumer advocate, said one of those tactics is making sure you know all the numbers before you go into a purchasing scenario.
“Be sure to go into the process with education on market values and specifics on what you can afford and what you want out of a car,” Kemp advised. “If you know what you’re looking for and how much you should pay for it, the rest should fall into place easily. Also, be clear on your budget and how add-ons or interest rates will affect your bottom line.”
Try Different Prompts
The interesting part of shopping with AI is that different inputs could give you different answers. “Depending on the AI, it is also important to test out a few different prompts to see if your results may vary,” Kemp said.
This means you could potentially get a better deal on a car if you change your prompt to, perhaps, allow for a higher mileage on a used car, or opt for a basic model on a new car. Make sure you try every prompt available to you before settling for a final offer.
Be Specific About Your Price
“Since virtually all dealerships put price negotiations in the hands of their salespeople and not their AI assistants, consumers shouldn’t expect that they’ll be able to get a better deal from AI than from a human,” said Devin Daly, co-founder and CEO at Impel.
“However, the most advanced AI platforms enable a seamless connection between AI assistants and their human counterparts. What that means is that customer needs and desires uncovered during AI interactions are shared with human sales reps. So if price is an important factor for you, go ahead and let the AI assistant know.”
Alex Lirette, founder of Orbital SEO, agreed that an AI car buying experience means there are fewer mind games as compared to dealing exclusively with a human salesperson. “AI salespeople are programmed for accuracy and can provide data-driven insights without any sales bias, ensuring you receive the best offers and information.”
By being clear about your price, the AI assistant can filter out vehicles that don’t fit your price range and focus only on the options that meet your ideal budget.
Ask All the Questions
“The best AI assistants are trained on hundreds of millions of past interactions and deeply integrated with dealership data and systems, making them far more likely than a human salesperson to provide complete and accurate answers to virtually any vehicle-related question,” Daly explained.
This means an AI assistant has access to much more information than a person does, so they can instantly pull up your questions about specifications of the vehicle.
Inspect Features During VR Driving Experience
“Potential buyers should look for those small features they like that can make a big difference,” Kemp advised. “For example, it’s a good idea to explore things like interior colors and materials, whether the speedometer is on the dashboard or in a heads-up display, and of course what the entertainment system is like.”
This ensures there are no surprises when you drive the car for real, which is of course key.
