Electric vehicles are still a popular choice among many Americans. According to a recent Gallup poll, an estimated 44% of adults say they would consider buying an EV in the future, while 7% already own one.

Tesla is, of course, one of the top brands in the EV sphere. But not everyone loves these cars as much as you might think. In particular, billionaire Mark Cuban said he still owns a Tesla, but it’s not his favorite car to drive.

Mark Cuban’s Favorite Car: Kia EV6

In a recent interview, Mark Cuban shared that his favorite car to drive isn’t a Tesla. It’s also not a Lamborghini or any of those other fancy cars.

It’s a Kia EV6.

“I like the Kia,” he said. “It’s not like the price matters to me all that much, but the other thing I liked about it, it doesn’t try to be too fancy.”

The 2025 Kia EV6 has a starting MSRP of $42,900. It also qualifies for up to $7,500 in a federal tax credit, which drops the starting price to $35,400. That’s not so different from what you’d find with other more economical vehicles — EVs or otherwise.

The Tesla has a comparable starting MSRP. For example, the Model Y long-range rear-wheel drive starts at $46,630 before upgrades or the federal tax rebate.

But Tesla isn’t as straightforward a car to own and drive as the Kia.

“I’m comfortable with it,” Cuban said in regards to the Kia EV6. “On the Tesla, you’ve got to find [the turn signal] and push the button … while you’re driving. You can’t pay attention to the road as much.”

But the Kia EV6? “Your turn signal is like … a turn signal,” Cuban said.

It’s a Nerd Car — and Cuban’s Proud of It

For some people, like Mark Cuban’s 15-year-old son, the Kia EV6 might seem like a “nerd car.”

But Cuban doesn’t mind that. The EV6 still has a ton to offer, including up to 319 miles of range (looking at the latest model), ultra-fast charging and a combined 320 horsepower. Plus, as Cuban pointed out, “The stereo system is good.”

Notably, Cuban does still own a Tesla. But if his interview is anything to go by, it’s mostly because he hasn’t gotten around to selling it yet.
