According to a recent study by AAA and Bread Financial, 61% of baby boomers planned to travel in 2026, with 57% admitting they would plan trips around milestone events. While everyone has their own reasons for planning a vacation, many seniors are looking to get away for a relaxing getaway in 2026.

GOBankingRates consulted with travel experts to learn about four cheap cruises that boomers are booking in 2026 and what makes them appealing.

1. Western Caribbean

  • Average price: $450 to $900 for five to seven nights

“Cruises in the Western Caribbean are still among the most budget-friendly options and affordable cruises leaving from Florida,” said Brian Raffio, a senior adventure travel consultant at Climbing Kilimanjaro.

These cruises often last between five and seven nights. They’ll go through popular Caribbean locations, like Cozumel, Roatan and Costa Maya. Boomers are often drawn to activities such as cultural tours, snorkeling, beach days and Mayan ruins.

“Caribbean cruises, a favorite as they generally range $500 to $900 per person per seven-day trip, are faltering with boomers opting for ships that feel less crowded than larger vessels,” said Evelyn Duran, a travel expert and sales manager at Ecuador & Galapagos Insiders. She found that these cruises attract older travelers since there’s less hassle and the onboard activities are structured.

2. Alaska Inside Passage

  • Average price: $700 to $1,500 (during shoulder seasons, May or September) for a seven-night cruise

“Alaska Inside Passage cruises appeal to baby boomers with straightforward prices of $800 to $1,500 per person for a week in May or September that include ports such as Juneau and Ketchikan for glacier and wildlife viewing without pricey shore excursions,” Duran said.

The common appeal of this option involves glacier cruising, wildlife viewing and history. Boomers have also remarked that they enjoyed exploring the towns of Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan. Raffio noted that Alaska cruises at the beginning or end of the season (in May or September) have unexpectedly good deals if you’re looking to book a trip.

3. Mediterranean

  • Average price: $650 to $900 for seven nights

“These cruises, of course, have stops at places like Santorini, Dubrovnik and Naples,” Raffio noted. “Boomers tend to enjoy the locations of the cruises as they are rich in history, and the locations are easy to navigate on foot and without the hassle of moving from hotel to hotel across multiple countries.”

If you’re lucky, you can find a departing cruise for under $900 in the eastern Mediterranean, providing you with a unique experience on a budget

4. Mexican Riviera

  • Average price: $500 to $750 (seven nights from California)

Raffio found that boomers are booking cruises departing from Los Angeles or San Diego with stops in Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán. The main appeal for boomers with this cruise is the warm weather, beach relaxation, historical towns and local cuisine tours, all within close proximity to the U.S.
