There’s a reason Whole Foods is frequently called “Whole Paycheck,” but that doesn’t mean retirees should avoid shopping there for Thanksgiving.

After acquiring the grocery chain in 2017, Amazon has cut prices on hundreds of items while maintaining higher standards than most other grocery chains. Beyond pricing, Whole Foods is also a great option for retirees who want to sit back this holiday season and take advantage of catering and prepared meals.

If you’re a retiree, here are five Whole Foods grocery items you should buy for Thanksgiving.

Classic Roast Whole Turkey

  • Price: $99.99

Being in charge of the Thanksgiving turkey is a big undertaking. If you don’t mind paying a little extra, Whole Foods will deliver a whole, cooked turkey right to your door. For $99, Whole Foods will cook and deliver a classic roast whole turkey for 12 people.

The turkey is served cold and requires heating, but you can find instructions with the turkey and on the store’s website. While the exact weight of the bird isn’t listed, Whole Foods’ Thanksgiving turkey buying guide suggests 2 pounds of turkey per person, or 24 pounds for 12 people.

Fresh Fruit Platter

  • Price: $29.99 or $49.99

Precut fruit gets a bad rap, but it’s a convenient option if you’re short on time or if it’s too difficult to prepare yourself. You can buy a fresh fruit platter at Whole Foods for $49.99 to serve 16 people or $29.99 for eight. The platter includes strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, blueberries and grapes — a great option for a Thanksgiving appetizer.

Farm Raised Shrimp Ring

  • Price: $12.99

While Whole Foods is generally pricier than most other grocery stores, you can sometimes find good deals on seafood. For a Thanksgiving appetizer, you can buy a farm raised shrimp ring with about 40 shrimp for $12.99.

For a larger group, there’s also a classic shrimp platter that serves 12 for $44.99 and a smaller platter that serves eight for $29.99.

All platters come with cocktail sauce.

European Cheese Platter

  • Price: $54.99 or $79.99

Cheese platters are a must-have snack or appetizer for Thanksgiving dinners. Whole Foods has a wide variety of high-quality cheeses, and retirees can save time with convenient cheese platters. One option is the European cheese platter, which serves 16 people for $79.99 or eight people for $54.99.

It includes a curated selection of camembert, gouda, gorgonzola and prosciutto. It also comes with almonds, an organic sour cherry spread, dried apricots, and cranberry and hazelnut raincoast crisps.

Pumpkin Pie

  • Price: $13.99

Pumpkin pie is back at Whole Foods, and while it may not be the most affordable pie around, retirees can pick this up for a reasonable price. Plus, it’s also received some great reviews online, and there’s a vegan option (though that one will cost just a bit more).

According to a review of store-bought-pies on Eat This, Not That, the Whole Foods pumpkin pie was a little sweet and spicy in equal measure, and one taster even declared this pie as their overall favorite.
