The holidays are a time to treat yourself to little luxuries, and consumers can find many of them at Kohl’s for good prices. This department store is known for having regular sales and deals on high-quality brands.
However, not all little luxuries are worth the cost. It’s easy to break your budget and overspend during the holidays. In fact, consumers this year plan to spend nearly $2,100 during the 2024 holiday season, a 7% increase from 2023, per BofA Securities.
For those who want to be more mindful of their spending this holiday season, here are a few purchases to avoid at Kohl’s.

Shine Cozy Bear Plaid Crew Socks
- Price: $3.99
These cozy plaid socks seem like they’d be a nice little luxury for the holidays. Unfortunately, the reviews are less than nice. Reviews report the socks getting holes in them after minimal use as well as weak and poorly constructed seams. So while the price for these socks is good and they’d make a good stocking stuffer, they are not worth purchasing.
Cuddl Duds Pajama Set
- Price: $28.00
Many families enjoy purchasing holiday pajamas every year for Christmas. However, one reviewer says these pajamas at Kohl’s don’t have consistent sizing. After purchasing a second pair of pajamas from this brand, the reviewer realized the pants were shorter, showing inconsistent quality.
National Christmas Tree 4-Foot Lehigh Valley Pine Entrance Trees Set
- Price: $86.99
Though many people enjoy decorating their front porches for the holidays, many reviewers said these Christmas trees were not up to par. One reviewer measured them and found that the trees were not the height stated in the description. Another said that the lights were “very skimpy.” For the price of $86.99, these do not seem to be worth the purchase.
Kurt Adler Gingerbread Nutcracker
- Price: $71.99
Kurt Adler is a well-known brand, and Kohl’s has good prices on many Kurt Adler products. While most reviewers found this gingerbread nutcracker to be good quality, another reported that the nutcracker showed up broken. And although this is a luxury decor product, it might not be worth spending $71.99 on a single piece of holiday decor.
Mr. Christmas Carnival Music Ferris Wheel
- Price: $34.99
Not all products are as they seem online. This Christmas Ferris wheel seems like it would be a great addition to a holiday village. However, many reviewers stated they were disappointed in the size of the product. One said it was too small to fit in their Christmas village. So while holiday villages are very common pieces of decor this time of year, this is one little luxury that doesn’t seem to be worth purchasing at Kohl’s.
Celebrate Together Glass LED Pumpkin
- Price: $19.59
For those decorating for Thanksgiving, this glass LED pumpkin seems like a beautiful addition to a holiday table. However, many reviewers stated that the pumpkin did not work at all. One said they put the batteries in, but the pumpkin did not light up. Another stated that the battery compartment was made improperly, and they couldn’t even put batteries in it. So for about $20, this is one little holiday luxury that is not worth purchasing.
