Planning to host a New Year’s Eve party this year? It pays to buy certain party supplies at Dollar Tree instead of Walmart — and you may be shocked by the difference in savings.
From champagne glasses to ice buckets, let’s take a closer look at the eight New Year’s Eve essentials that are much cheaper to shop for at Dollar Tree instead of Walmart.
Gold Star-Shaped Foil Balloon
- Price: $1.50
Decorate for 2024’s last day and save money with Dollar Tree’s gold star-shaped foil balloons.Â
Each 18-inch balloon costs $1.50 and is available for in-store purchase only. By comparison, a single Anagram gold star-shaped balloon retails for $4.99 at Walmart. Purchasing a cluster of five star-shaped balloons from Dollar Tree would set shoppers back just $7.50, while at Walmart the total would cost almost $25.
Gold Plastic Champagne Flutes
- Price: $1.25
We could not believe the price difference between the gold plastic champagne flutes sold at Dollar Tree compared to dupe flutes from the LSM brand at Walmart.Â
Dollar Tree shoppers receive two plastic champagne flutes for $1.25, or about 63 cents each. Meanwhile, at Walmart, it costs $11.97 online to buy a set of two plastic champagne flutes.
Plastic Champagne Glasses
- Price: $1.25
Is it cheaper to buy a set of six plastic champagne glasses from Dollar Tree or Walmart?Â
The answer is Dollar Tree, which carries six-count packages for $1.25 — compared to Walmart’s $6.98 for the Packed Party brand. The only major difference between the two glasses at Walmart’s are 1.5 ounces bigger, but this shouldn’t matter much since you can always refill the glass.
Crystal Cut Plastic Punch Bowls
- Price: $1.25
Whether you’re planning to serve guests alcoholic or non-alcoholic punch at the party, your best bet is to grab a few Caterer’s Corner punch bowls to score Dollar Tree’s flagship $1.25 pricing. We were able to find a plastic punch bowl for sale at Walmart, but we were dismayed by the $9.89 price tag.
Crystal-Cut Chip and Dip Tray
- Price: $1.25
A plastic chip and dip tray is a must for setting out appetizers and finger foods to keep guests fed until the ball drops.
While the Way To Celebrate trays sold at Walmart are $3 each, that’s still a visible amount of savings for savvy Dollar Tree shoppers.
Disposable Plastic Silver Flatware
- Price: $1.25
Keep some silver plastic flatware on hand to enjoy NYE snacks and sweets by shopping for the Caterer’s Corner brand at Dollar Tree.
Walmart’s Way To Celebrate brand costs $3.97, and the only other major difference is their 24-count cutlery is gold, not silver.
Clear Plastic Serving Tongs
- Price: $1.25
Put these clear plastic serving tongs to work adding ice to drinks or taking appetizers to snack on before midnight.Â
Each four-count pack of plastic tongs is $1.25 at Dollar Tree, but close to $10 for the Plasticpro brand sold at Walmart.
Silver Plastic Ice Buckets
- Price: $1.25
Keep drinks cool inside a Caterer’s Corner silver ice bucket from Dollar Tree. Each plastic bucket comes with handles to make it easy to move from space to space.Â
A similar ice bucket for sale at Walmart costs $2.77. For that price, you could buy two Dollar Tree ice buckets with some change left.
Editor’s note: Prices and availability are accurate as of Dec. 13, 2024, and are subject to change.
