One of the best parts of entering your golden years is the chance to save a lot of green. By the time you’ve reached age 55 and beyond, you not only have some of your most fun and creative years ahead of you, you also benefit from some serious discounts.
From entertainment to groceries, home goods to car repairs and even cruises, there are plenty of opportunities for you to enjoy life without delving too deeply into your hard-earned savings.
While you might think that 55 is a bit too young to be considered “senior,” you’re actually eligible to sign up for membership with AARP when you turn 50. Having that membership can be key to unlocking these discounts.
GOBankingRates has compiled a list of some senior discounts you should know about, based on data from Senior Living and The Senior List.
Here are also 10 ways retired seniors can score rebates or cash back.
Amazon Prime
If you’re a senior relying on government assistance such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), you can get a pretty healthy 50% discount on your Amazon Prime membership.
Ross Dress For Less 55+ Program
You can put the style into being a senior by pursuing the deals available under the Ross Dress for Less 55+ program, which gives you 10% off your purchase. Be sure to have your photo ID at the checkout.

Every day is a good day to explore your local Goodwill, but Tuesdays are particularly great for seniors shopping for a discount. Depending on its location, the store will offer anywhere between 15 to 25% in discounts for shoppers who are over 60 years old.
Valvoline
The automotive company is dedicated to helping AARP members get on the road faster, with a 15% discount on oil changes available to people with AARP memberships.
Rite Aid Rewards 65+
If you’re over 65 years old and a Rite Aid Rewards member, you can enroll in-store for the Rewards 65+ program. On the first Wednesday of every month, you’re eligible to receive free consultations from pharmacists to review your medications, as well as your immunization needs, blood pressure screenings and questions about Medicare Part D. You’ll also earn 5 times the points for any in-store purchases you make.
