There’s no doubt you can get great deals at Walmart. Everything — from the home decor to the clothing to the food choices — has drastically improved at Walmart over the past few years. However, there’s still one category you might want to reconsider purchasing at Walmart, and that’s appliances.

Even though it seems like you can save significant cash on home appliances thanks to Walmart’s low prices, some reviews show that the quality might not be worth your hard earned money.

Here are five appliances you should avoid buying at Walmart.

Mainstays 5-Speed Corded Hand Mixer

Mainstays is a Walmart brand that you can find on many different items in the store. Unfortunately, based on reviews, this Mainstays hand mixer isn’t up to par. 

Many reviews say the item just stopped working. So, even though it’s a reasonable price and does get 4.5 stars, you’ll likely find a higher quality hand mixer at a different store.

Emeril Lagasse Blender Cordless Rechargeable Immersion Blender

Emeril Lagasse is a famous chef with a line of kitchen products that Walmart sells. Although it seems like this immersion blender is a great product for the price, it earns only 3 out of 5 stars. 

Many of the reviews say it stopped charging or stopped working altogether after just a few months. So, although immersion blenders can be expensive, it’s better to spend a little more and get a higher quality product. 

Frigidaire Garage Refrigerator

It’s nice to have an extra refrigerator in your garage to make room in your kitchen fridge and also to easily be able to access drinks when you’re outside. Because a garage fridge is a second fridge, it makes sense to try to get a good deal on the purchase. 

However, Walmart might not be the best place for it as this Frigidaire Garage Ready Refrigerator gets a mere 3.4 stars, and many reviews say it doesn’t cool well at all.

Ionchill Wine Cooler Mini Fridge

Having a wine fridge is a nice luxury, especially if you enjoy entertaining. But, it’s important to read reviews to make sure you’re getting one that actually works well for wine. 

Walmart sells this Ionchill Wine Cooler Mini Fridge, but many reviewers say it doesn’t get to the right temperature for wine. Additionally, another reviewer said some wine bottles didn’t even fit in it, which is strange for a fridge designed exactly for that. For those reasons, this one is a pass.

Midea Stainless Steel Refrigerator

It can be hard to find an affordable stainless steel refrigerator. This Midea fridge from Walmart is just under $1,000. While that might be a great deal compared to many other stainless steel refrigerators on the market, this one unfortunately gets only 2.7 stars. Many customers say it malfunctioned, overheated and wouldn’t turn on after a while. Plus, more than one review said it arrived scratched and dented. 

All that to say: For a product that you’re going to use daily like a refrigerator, it’s better to buy a quality product you can enjoy for many years without significant issues.
