If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas that encourages you to get a little more active than simply lounging by the fire — not that it isn’t lovely — then odds are, you’re probably hoping to find the perfect place to ski. However, the image of yourself mounting the slopes with a gorgeous, luxurious-looking ski chalet sitting cozily in the background could inspire as much dread as it does joy. You’re wondering how, exactly, you’re going to pay for your time zipping around this winter wonderland. 

You’re in luck. GOBankingRates has an early holiday gift for you — there are some perfect places to ski that come with perfect prices. Here are some hot spots for a cool-weather vacation. 

Killington, Vermont 

If any organization knows about ideal vacation spots, it’s Vrbo, an online marketplace for vacation homes. In its list of affordable family ski vacations, Vrbo listed Killington, Vermont, calling it a popular getaway and promising opportunities to stay with style and savings everywhere from charming three-bedroom houses or even ski-in, ski-out condos. 

Highly rated listings, like one studio equipped for four people with parking, access to the gym and a pool — not to mention a washing machine — within walking distance of the mountain, go for just $270 a night. If you make a group trip of it, you could save big, and have a lot of fun. 

Big Sky, Montana 

Vrbo also encourages ski fans to consider checking out vacation properties in Big Sky, Montana. This resort area is so popular among skiers and other people who long for a cozy, cold-weather vacation, that it is apparently a locus of many a good deal. In fact, chalets can come with perks that might normally cost extra elsewhere, like hot tubs and heated pools, as well as free sleigh rides. 

For prices roughly in the $1,300 range, you can get a mountain view, spa access, a sauna and even bring your furry friends — not to mention quite a number of your human friends, since a lot of these cabins and chalets fit several people at once — to a luxurious vacation home on the slopes. 

Jackson Hole, Wyoming 

Take in the gorgeous, unique landscape of Wyoming with its snow-capped rocky flats and breathtaking skies as you sip some hot cocoa and prepare for a day on the slopes. You can book a lodge with rustic stylings — and, most importantly, a fire pit and heated pool — right near the mountain for only $673 a night. That’s a lot of luxury for a relatively low price. 

Other pet-friendly rental options go for just $306 a night, and are only minutes away from the good skiing. You can also book a room in a ski cabin that comes with a free shuttle up to the slopes for only $203 a night.
