If you’re looking to explore Latin America this fall without blowing your budget, several travel packages are available now that offer great value with round-trip flights and hotel stays included. For a few days, you can pretend summer hasn’t ended.
Whether you’re into snorkeling in Cozumel, hiking within Costa Rica’s lush landscapes, exploring ancient ruins in Peru — or something in between — these options offer adventure and relaxation, all for under $1,500.
San Isidro, Costa Rica
- Price: $1,343
Book an affordable flight and hotel package on Expedia to enjoy a Latin American vacation in Costa Rica, which offers beautiful, lush landscapes to explore.
Enjoy round-trip flights and three nights in a mountain-view room at the Buena Vista Chic Hotel, which has a 9.2 “Wonderful” rating on Expedia. A free breakfast is included. Additionally, the hotel offers an on-site restaurant that serves lunch and dinner, airport shuttle service and a pool.
One of the most popular attractions in the area is the Eco Chontales Waterfall, which has a 4.5-star review on TripAdvisor.
Cozumel, Mexico
- Price: $1,400
Expedia also offers flight and hotel packages under $1,500 to Mexico. Stay two nights at the Cozumel Hotel & Resort Trademark Collection by Wyndham, which is an all-inclusive beachfront hotel with two restaurants, a pool and a spa. Non-motorized water sports, such as kayaking and snorkeling, are included.
Cozumel is home to the Palancar and Columbia coral reefs, which make it a great destination for snorkelers and divers.
Lima, Peru
- Price: $1,454
It can be somewhat challenging to find flight-and-hotel vacation packages to Peru for under $1,500, but if you’re willing to forgo booking a resort, it’s possible.
For under $1,500, you can fly to Peru and stay at the Hostal El Pilar for four nights. The hotel is not yet rated on Expedia, but it has an 8.0 rating on Booking.com, which is considered “Very Good.” It features modern rooms equipped with double beds and Wi-Fi. A lounge and coffee shop are also on the premises.
Lima is a mix of ancient history and vibrant culture. It’s also considered one of the top food capitals in the world, featuring African, Indigenous and Chinese influences.
San Pedro, Belize
- Price: $1,222
If you’re dreaming of staying over the water in Belize, the Lina Point Belize Overwater Resort has a 9.4 “Exceptional” rating. Stay three nights in a King room with a glass floor that will allow you to gaze at the nearby sea life. The resort offers a restaurant, bar, spa, pool and free airport shuttle.
Restaurants and beaches are near the resort, and plenty of water activities, including snorkeling and kayaking, can be found.
Punta Arenas, Chile
- Price: $1,469
If warmer weather isn’t what you’re seeking this fall, consider making the trip to Punta Arenas, Chile. With highs from 46 to 54 degrees Fahrenheit and lows from 35 to 41 degrees Fahrenheit, you can pack your winter clothing.
Stay in the Hotel Cabo De Hornos, which has an 8.8 “Excellent” rating. The accommodations included in this package offer one double bed or two twins, depending on your preference. On-site amenities include a restaurant, bar and gym. A 24-hour airport shuttle is also available for a surcharge.
For activities, you can visit Isla Magdelena, home to thousands of Small Magellan Penguins in their natural habitat. Other activities include visiting one or more area museums, exploring a historic shipwreck or walking the waterfront promenade while taking in ocean views and monuments.
