Here is a look at the places with the lowest gas prices and what you can enjoy when you visit during fall.
Mississippi
Mississippi’s gas prices are $2.85 per gallon on average — that’s much lower than the national average of $3.16 per gallon, as reported by Forbes. While in The Hospitality State, you can look forward to 299 different hiking trails to explore.
Texas
Driving in Texas is refreshingly cheap at $2.88 a gallon on average. Texas has 487 wineries that you can stop at to have some wine while you take in the fall sights. There are also nearly 2,600 hiking trails statewide to check out.
Oklahoma
Oklahoma keeps gas prices under the national average, at $2.90 a gallon. Another part of the state drivers will enjoy is that the roads have a high quality score of nearly 92%, so it’ll be smooth driving between the 626 hiking trails in the state.
Tennessee
To buy a gallon of gas in Tennessee, it’ll cost you $2.91 on average. Tourists will love the 1,831 hiking trails and 57 state parks Tennessee has to offer.Â
Alabama
Alabama keeps gas prices low at $2.93 a gallon on average and has very well maintained roads to cruise on. While driving through, you can check out any of the 30 fall festivals the state has to offer.Â
Louisiana
Louisiana is tied with Alabama with gas at $2.93 a gallon on average. Visitors can check out any of the 352 hiking trails in the Bayou State. Weather is pretty nice this time of year, at 67°F on average.
Arkansas
For $2.97 a gallon on average, you can check out all that Arkansas has to offer in the fall. That includes 1,013 hiking trails, 52 state parks, and nice 61°F weather during the day.
South Carolina
Head on over to South Carolina this fall, and you’ll only pay $2.97 on average per gallon of gas — same as Arkansas. Looking for a hayride? The state offers 23 spots where you can get your fill. There are also 22 fall festivals you can stop by to get the full fall experience.
Missouri
It’ll cost just $3.01 to get a gallon of gas in Missouri, on average. When it comes to fall sights, visitors will not be disappointed. There are 52 apple orchards for your pie and cider needs, plus there are 149 wineries you can stop by.
Kansas
Gas is $3.02 a gallon on average in Kansas, which is still under the national average. The state has 50 wineries, 29 hayrides and 591 hiking trails, so no matter what you’re looking to get out of a fall trip, you’re likely to find it in Kansas.
