Customer loyalty to certain retailers often extends beyond one’s net worth. This is especially true of Target, where people from all financial backgrounds shop for must-have essentials like groceries and cleaning supplies. And even if you earn millions, it always makes good financial sense to keep shopping at stores where you know you’re getting a great deal for your money.
GOBankingRates spoke to four self-made millionaires about some of the products they still buy at Target and why they’re loyal to these specific purchases. Self-made millionaires keep returning to Target to buy these six items.
Classic Socks
Self-made millionaire and CEO of SpreeAI John Imah said he shops at Target for certain fashion staples. Classic socks are one of these staples, as Imah has over 6,000 pairs of shoes in his closet.
“The cost savings are phenomenal,” said Imah.
Socks aside, Imah said he also likes to pick up undershirts and winter-ready gloves on his Target runs.
Children’s Apparel
If you need to shop for children’s apparel without breaking the bank, Imah recommends doing it at Target.
“They are always stocked in sizes and remain on-trend, from princess themes to the latest action figures,” he said. “Target has cornered the market on children gifting through clothing.”
Diapers
Mike Sprouse, self-made millionaire and founder of The Sprouse Group, has three children, including two daughters — ages eight and nine — and a 20-month old son. Sprouse said he will always buy diapers when shopping at Target.
“I always bought diapers and other bulk purchases for babies and toddlers at Target,” Sprouse said. “Anything that’s a commodity I know I’m going to need a lot of and want to find the best prices for.”
Body Products
Self-made millionaire Ashley Jones is the creative director and founder of Tones of Melanin, a brand that recently crossed over the million-dollar threshold. When shopping at Target, Jones always makes sure to add new hair and body products to her cart.
“I love to buy hair and body products from Target, because they have Black-owned brands there that I see online,” said Jones.
T-Shirts
Much like Imah, Jones can’t resist snagging everyday clothing essentials during a Target run.
In particular, she said she likes to buy jeans and blank t-shirts, because these wardrobe staples are size-inclusive.
Seasonal Décor
Scott Lieberman, self-made millionaire and founder of Touchdown Money, often finds himself buying a few seasonal décor items at Target’s Dollar Spot section, right next to the store’s entrance.
During his last shopping trip, Lieberman said he purchased a calendar and a few small plants. He said he likes this section of the store because it’s so reasonably priced. Items for sale typically cost between $1 and $5 each.
