Target and Walmart are both on the top of everyone’s shopping lists when it comes to trendy, budget-friendly clothing. Both have designer collabs, both are everywhere in the U.S. and both are size inclusive. But not every deal is created equal and sometimes Walmart comes out on top.
Here are 9 clothing deals that are better at Walmart than at Target.
In contrast, here are 10 items that are usually cheaper at Target.
Girls’ Leggings
Merissa Alink, savings expert at Little House Living, pointed out a notable price difference in children’s basics. “Girls’ leggings. At Target they’re $6 and Walmart they’re $4.48,” she said.
This $1.52 savings per pair can add up quickly for parents stocking up on everyday essentials for their little ones.
Boys’ Shirts
Alink also shared another area where Walmart has Target beat: Boy shirts. She said at Target they are $6, while at Walmart they cost $3.98.
With a difference of $2.02 per shirt, parents can save money to buy more food for their growing kids — which, as everyone with a child knows, is substantial!
Children’s Skechers Shoes
Parents looking to save on kids’ footwear will find better deals at Walmart. While Target offers a single pair of children’s Skechers for $29.99, Walmart has a wider selection with prices starting at just $19.99.
Women’s Basic Black Blouse
For a wardrobe staple like a simple black blouse, Walmart takes the lead in affordability — and honestly, the style is cute, to boot! While Target’s most budget-friendly option comes in at $10.00, Walmart offers a comparable style for just $6.09. This price difference on a basic item can add up when you’re building a wardrobe.
Men’s Wrangler Jeans
When it comes to classic denim, Walmart edges out Target by a slim margin. A pair of Wrangler men’s relaxed fit jeans at Target costs $17.00, while the same style at Walmart is priced at $16.87.
Fruit of the Loom Basics
Walmart’s partnership with Fruit of the Loom gives it an edge in the basics department. While both retailers carry the brand, Walmart often offers lower prices on items like undershirts, socks and underwear.
Champion Athletic Wear
Both Target and Walmart carry the popular Champion brand, but Walmart mostly has Target beat on prices. If you’re looking to fill your closet with this on-trend brand, head to Walmart.
Dickies Work Wear
For those in need of durable work clothes (or just a fashion statement), Walmart has the lock on affordable Dickies. From work pants to shirts and jackets, you can stock your closet with this timeless brand.
Seasonal Clothing Items
Target is a must-stop for the cutest takes on seasonal clothing, but when you just want the basics for cheap, Walmart usually has them beat. Whether it’s a bathing suit in the summer or a thermal shirt in the winter, head to Walmart first to stock up.
