Trader Joe’s is well known for its affordable grocery items, but you may be overlooking some of the best products the store has to offer if you are skipping over the beauty section.
From lotions to skincare and more, Trader Joe’s has a wide variety of high-quality beauty products — many of which are dupes for pricier luxury items. That means many opportunities to save money on fabulous goods.
Here’s a look at some of the best Trader Joe’s alternatives to luxury beauty products.
Vanilla Lip Mask
- Price: $5.99
Trader Joe’s Vanilla Lip Mask is an ultra-hydrating lip treatment that contains shea butter, coconut oil and vitamin E. It’s a much more affordable alternative to the Laneige Vanilla Lip Sleeping Mask, which retails for $24.
Brazil Nut Body Scrub
- Price: $5.99
Exfoliate your skin with this delicious-smelling body scrub that’s a dupe of the Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Body Scrub. You’ll pay under $6 for the Trader Joe’s version, while the brand name costs $42.
Daily Facial Sunscreen SPF 40
- Price: $8.99
Trader Joe’s Daily Facial Sunscreen checks all the boxes — it’s translucent, oil-free, fragrance-free, and absorbs quickly, leaving behind a silky matte finish. It’s a great dupe for the Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40, which retails for $48.
Ultra Moisturizing Hand Cream
- Price: $4.99
Fans of L’Occitane’s Nourishing and Protective Hand Cream are sure to be impressed by the Trader Joe’s version, which is made with coconut oil, hemp seed oil, shea butter, essential fatty acids, and vitamins C and E. The luxury version costs $30, while the Trader Joe’s version costs under $5.
Marula Facial Oil
- Price: $6.99
Marula oil is known for being moisturizing without being greasy. The Trader Joe’s version costs just under $7, while the Drunk Elephant version costs a whopping $69.
Ultra Hydrating Gel Moisturizer
- Price: $8.99
Trader Joe’s developed its Ultra Hydrating Gel Moisturizer to be an affordable version of Clinque’s Moisture Surge Moisturizer, which retails for $64.
“A few years ago, a few of our office crew members admitted to our beauty buyer that, in spite of their TJ’s allegiance, they were still shelling out the big bucks for a particular name-brand gel moisturizer,” the Trader Joe’s site states. “Eager to see what the fuss was about, our buyer tried it for herself, and she was instantly sold on its light, aqueous formula.”
“What she was not sold on, however, was its $50 price tag,” the site continued. “She knew TJ’s could do better, so she contacted one of our favorite high-end skincare producers — a company overseen by a panel of board-certified dermatologists — and the rest is epidermal history.”
Editor’s note: Prices are accurate as of Sept. 6, 2024. Prices and availability may vary by location.
