Dollar Tree is known for its budget-friendly variety of goods — most of which are priced at $1.25. However, while some of the items the discount chain offers are hits, others are complete misses.

To help you avoid buying things that aren’t worth your money, check out these four tech products you should never buy at Dollar Tree

LED Shower Speaker

A waterproof speaker with color-changing LED lights that you can use in the shower sounds like it would be fun and entertaining. And at $5, it’s a great price. However, it’s rated a one-star product by reviewers. Granted the number of reviews is low, but the rating speaks for itself.

One reviewer wrote, “Horrible, doesn’t hold a charge. It won’t charge past 60%; it’s not worth a dollar.” Another reviewer commented, “This thing is terrible. Suction doesn’t hold, and the [charge] doesn’t even last over 20-30 minutes?? I’ve bought $5 speakers that actually work. I didn’t expect the best sound quality, but at least hold a charge.”

2Boom Bluetooth Disco LED Speaker

A $5 wireless Bluetooth speaker with a color-changing LED disco light and FM radio receiver makes playing your music outdoors or at parties cheap, fun and easy. Plus, in between uses, it only takes one to two hours to reach a full charge. But if it’s a product you can’t depend on to work when you want, you definitely should avoid it.

The speaker has a 2.7-star rating with the majority of its ratings being one or two stars. One reviewer wrote, “When it works, it’s great. It worked for an hour, [then] started beeping every 10 sec. Nothing [in] instructions on why or what to do. It was plugged in and fully charged. Day two, it just stopped turning on completely.”

E-Circuit Flatwire Tangle-Free Micro USB Cables

This five-pin micro USB cable helps connect smartphones and tablets to your computer or a wall plug and comes in blue, pink, purple, white, black and green. Additionally, it’s tangle-free and easily coils so you can avoid the hassle when transporting it.

However, it has a 2.3-star rating with the majority of reviews being one star, which means you’d be better off saving your $1.25. One reviewer gave this product a one-star rating because when it was plugged in, it allegedly damaged one of the regulator chips inside their new Bluetooth transmitter. Another reviewer wrote, “Wasted a buck with this one. Simply put, it didn’t work.”

E-Circuit Rainbow Shoelace Earbuds

Earbuds are handy to have to listen to music, movies or podcasts without disturbing others. And these 48-inch, rainbow-colored earbuds are unique. Plus, at a price point of $1.25, you can afford to have several pairs on hand. But the 2.3-star rating should give you pause.

One reviewer wrote that the earbuds were not as well made as they thought: “I thought they would be more sturdy and better made, but I have, so far, four that do not work at all or are only working on one side.”

Please note, pricing and availability may vary depending on location.
