Infiniti QX80
The Infiniti QX80 is a full-size luxury SUV that comes with a spacious interior, luxury features and a powerful engine. This vehicle is perfect for families, with seven seats and plenty of legroom. Pricing for the 2025 model starts at $84,445 and can reach upwards of $112,000. However, a used QX80 Sensory model with under 7,000 miles retails for about $81,000, helping you save $30,000 off the retail price.
“The 2025 QX80 has been having issues, according to many owners,” said Melanie Musson, auto industry expert with CarInsurance.org. “So, if the QX80 is what you’re in the market for, you may be better off buying a previous model year. Not only will you save money, but you may end up with a more dependable car.”
Lexus GX
The Lexus GX is a luxury SUV model that comes with an exceptional towing capacity, a twin-turbo V-6 engine and off-road capabilities. This luxury SUV is great for everyday traveling and those spontaneous trips. Pricing for the 2025 Lexus GX ranges from $65,285 to $81,750, depending on the features and upgrades you select.
However, instead of purchasing a new 2025 model, consider buying a used model a few years old. A 2023 Lexus GX with under 7,500 miles retails for just under $63,000.
“Lexus has built a reputation for manufacturing dependable vehicles,” said Musson. “You can save between 30% and 50% when you purchase a used model that’s five or fewer years old. The steering and handling will be tight, and the interior will still be fully functional and comfortable. When you buy a used Lexus GX, you can expect to save money while still enjoying reliable service.”
BMW X5
The BMW X5 is a mid-sized SUV that comes with advanced technology, plug-in powertrain options and a variety of driver’s assistance modes. The 2025 BMW X5 pricing ranges between $67,475 and $92,025, which can vary based on your trim packages.
A used BMW X5 xDrive50e with under 16,000 miles retails for $68,000. This used vehicle comes with all of the features you would expect in a luxury SUV without the price tag of a new vehicle.
“Buy used, 100%,” said Alex Black, chief marketing officer at EpicVIN. “New ones depreciate quickly, like a $15,000 to $20,000 loss in the first year. But the two- to three-year-old ones still feel new, tech is still good and the reliability in recent years is way better. You’re essentially getting the same drive for much cheaper.”
Mercedes-Benz GLE
The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE is a sporty mid-size SUV. You have the choice between four engines, from a turbocharged inline-four to a twin-turbo V-8. The Mercedes-Benz GLE also comes with a luxurious interior, boasting comfort and class. Pricing ranges from $63,000 to $94,700.
You can score a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 for around $57,000 with under 4,000 miles. Why not save money while still getting all of the features you want?
“Same story,” said Black. “The GLE is really nice, but fully loaded new ones cost over $80,000 with options. They’re in the $50,000 range in two years. Big discount. And the best part is, most original owners pamper these cars. You’re getting a nicely kept ride without absorbing the depreciation.”
