We all know that ChatGPT isn’t perfect (you probably shouldn’t ask it for specific financial advice), but it can be useful if you have some simple questions. Like researching what the best budget-friendly deals are at your local grocery store. In this case, Aldi.

“Aldi is reducing prices on over 400 items across all 2,400 U.S. stores — meats organic produce, pantry staples — resulting in an estimated $100 million in savings for shoppers through Labor Day,” ChatCPT said, referencing Food and Wine Magazine

Since ChatGPT can sometimes spit out inaccurate information, the prompt for this tool was that the deals had to be in the U.S., is current and that it had to find legitimate deals.

Here’s what ChatGPT said were the best deals at Aldi this summer.

Items Under $5

ChatGPT found a bunch of fan-favorites and items you’ll regularly find at Aldi for under $5.

The Sundae Shoppe tiny ice cream cones with a vanilla ice cream and a chocolate coating is for $2.99, though the 10-pack found on Aldi’s website was actually for $5.95. Not quite under $5 but still a fairly decent price.

There’s also ice cream in different flavors from the same brand, though some locations it retails for $3.25 instead of the $2.99 price tag ChatGPT claimed it was for the 48-ounce container.

Want other types of snacks? Try Southern Grove’s trail mix, though the Strawberry Lemonade trail mix ChatGPT said is on sale for $4.89 is not available anymore. Instead, you can try the Korean BBQ trail mix for $3.09 or the Tranquility Trail mix for $5.39.

The Benton’s brand of cookies are also popular. You can choose from flavors like peanut butter-filled cookies for $2.35 or the chewy chocolate chip cookies for $2.55.

Barbecue Essentials

If you’re looking for more essentials, at least for your outdoor cooking parties, you can find price markdowns for a whole host of items.

Meat lovers may enjoy Aldi’s price for the Black Angus Choice boneless eye of round steak, available for $7.69 a pound.

Or if you’re looking for poultry items, you may be able to find an eight-count pack of chicken skewers for $7.99. One of the best parts is that it’s ready to go on the grill since it’s cut up, seasoned and put on skewers. Two flavors you can find are sweet chili lime and pollo asado. A pack of boneless skinless chicken breast goes for $2.49 per pound, with most packs being around five pounds.

Editor’s note: Pricing and availability may vary depending on location.
