Fans of Target often cite the hidden gems and quality of goods as motivating factors for a fall treasure hunt, favoring the red-and-white brand for doing things a little bit differently from competitors while also maintaining an ever-expanding inventory of deals.
But not all money-saving deals are created equally. Based on the reviews, Target loyalists would do well to consider giving some of the following products a miss.
In contrast, here are sale items at Target that are worth a try this fall.
The Worst Fall Snacks, Groceries and Treats at Target This Year
Favorite Day was singled out by users as a brand to be wary of, which is somewhat unfortunate given its status as a Target private label offering.
Pumpkin Spice Cake Pops
- Price: $5.99
In particular, Favorite Day’s Pumpkin Spice Cake Pops comes in a pack of four and has a two-star review from 13 users. They were singled out as “nasty,” and “awful.”
Fall Harvest Pumpkin Spice Trail Mix
- Price: $4.99
Favorite Day’s Fall Harvest Pumpkin Spice Trail Mix comes in a 10-ounce pack and was rated two stars. Target store reviewers said it tasted artificial.
Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer
- Price: $2.99
Another Favorite Day product, Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer, was rated under three stars. It comes in a 32-ounce bottle and was singled out by buyers as having an overpowering taste.
Reese’s Mini Peanut Butter Pumpkins
- Price: $5.19
These Reese’s Mini Peanut Butter Pumpkins comes in a 7.6-ounce pack and was also rated under three stars. Multiple reviewers described them as a “big glob.”
La Colombe Pumpkin Draft Latte
- Price: $2.59
This La Colombe Pumpkin Draft Latte is packaged in an 11-ounce can and has a rating of under three stars. It has drawn criticism for an unpleasant aftertaste and a chemical tang.
Bad Halloween Costumes To Avoid at Target
On the Halloween costume front, three particular outfits stood out as particularly poor choices, although there are hundreds of low-star reviews to (not) choose from.
Boys’ Glow-in-the-Dark Skeleton Halloween Costume
- Price: $22.99 (originally $44.99)
Including a pair of gloves, mask and bodysuit, this costume by Joyfy could seem like a good deal at Target. However, with a 2.3-star rating, parents describe the costume as “very cheaply made” and one which “doesn’t glow.”
Baby Girl’s Pink Minnie Mouse Costume
- Price: $43.55
Priced at $43.55, what could be a classic look for a young girl instead left one reviewer as stating “Bad quality. Runs small. Fabric made my baby red,” driving a total 1.3-star rating.
Adult Inflatable Funny Ostrich Costume
- Price: $29.99 (originally $89.99)
And now, for the adults, this inflatable ostrich costume by Joyfy garnered a 1.5-star rating, perhaps resulting in a sale price of $29.99 versus a regular price listed at $89.99. Users said this costume “ruined Halloween” for them.
Tools, Lawn and Fall Cleanup Products at Target With Low Ratings
If doing a bit of yard work as the leaves start to turn and fall is more your bag, think about buying anything other than the following products to ensure satisfaction.
Best Garden Women’s Garden Gloves
- Price: $10.01
At just $10.01 for a pair of all canvas gloves, complete with a cute floral print, what could go wrong? A 2.9-star rating emerging from seven reviews tells the tale: The product shown is not representative of what is actually shipped, missing grips and featuring an entirely different pattern.
Nature Spring Gardening Tool Set and Carrying Tote Bag Organizer
Price: $29.95 (originally $44.95)
On sale for $29.95 versus a regular price of $44.95, this tool set and bag scored as low as possible (one out of five stars) on three scathing Target reviews. Those who bothered to write a text review noted its incredible small size. “The tools were so flimsy and cheap. Not worth the price,” one reviewer wrote, alongside an intent to return the purchase.
